    Nah.

    That's mid-Southeast Utah.  Northern Utah arguably starts at Kaysville, and is certainly everything north of Ogden.

    I'm from North Logan in Cache County, you're probably thinking of Provo in Utah County.

    That's like confusing New Orleans with Shreveport, or Pittsburg with Philadelphia.

    Sometimes I worry about the world I knew as a kid disappearing, being destroyed in the name of progress so that someone can profit off of remaking the world.

    But, then I think, "this is 2017. What will things be like in 2027 or 2047 or 2107?", and I feel like things are more okay, and that there is still good, still memories and constants, and that current things need to be protected from the future, that there is value in today.

    In 300 years, a pencil made today will be 300 years old! Everything is potentially a valuable piece of a bygone era.

    I'm living 600 years before somebody, so to that person I am living in the past!  History might not even be halfway over, a doodle I make could one day be older than the oldest cuneiform tablets are today.

    Based on how archaeology usually goes, it'll be trash that gets found later. and we got mountains of the stuff, much of which hardly degrades. future civilizations will know our every ridiculous detail.

    Youth in wealthier societies during the early part of the 21st century C.E. sometimes engaged in arguments to decide which of a large variety of fictional icons to pretend to claim as their spouses.  This behavior seems to be one of many examples of advanced developments of tribalism as extended to the peer network then-known as the "internet" though it is not clear whether this behavior aided them in their ability to survive and thrive.

    I like to imagine that the Stone of Scone is actually magical, enough to prevent Scottish Independence from happening as long as Elizabeth II (or, any English monarch whose coronation uses the Stone) lives.

    I also like to imagine that this magic is the reason why the United Kingdom still has a monarchy, but since Elizabeth II gave the stone back in 1996, her successor's reign will be the one in which Scotland becomes independent.

    It's a strange feeling, when I read somebody else's breakdown and it sounds like things I have thought, but not (or rarely) expressed, out of restraint or unwillingness to deal with the consequences of acknowledging those feelings out loud.

    There's a magic board game about a jungle trek that brings aspects of the game into the real world as you play it.

    Two kids have to beat the game in order to set things right with the help of a man who was once a boy who played the game in the 70s and spent years trapped within the jungle nether-realm inside the game.

    I liked it a lot as a kid, because parts of it are very scary, but also exciting. I watched it a lot as a kid.

    Also it taught me the difference between alligators and crocodiles.

    Sounds great, I think I've seen a few copies of it at work, or at least perhaps a remake with Robin Williams.

    I'll make sure to find it and watch it if you're not going to put it on the stream.

    The one with Robin Williams is the original. It was adapted from a book.

    Coworker: "Rozzy, what's 157*163"

    Me(thinking):

    153*167
    (100+50+3)*(167)

    (100*167)+(50*167)+(3*167)

    (100*167) is (167*100) is 167 hundreds is (16700).  Remember, one six seven zero zero, one six seven zero zero, one six seven zero zero, one six seven zero zero, one six seven zero zero, one six seven zero zero.

    (50*167) well, {5*16 is twice 5*8}, and {5*8 is 40}, so {5*16 is 80}, so {50*16 is 800}, so {50*160 is 8000} so that's eighty hundred or eight thousand, and we need seven more fifties, and {5*7 is 35} so {50*7 is 350} so {50*167 is the same as 8000 plus 350} so {50*167 is 8350}.  I can remember this.  80 and 35. five sixteens is 80  and five sevens is 35. 8350.  five sixteens and five sevens, five sixteen-seven, sixteen seven, one six seven, oh, one six seven zero zero, remember 16700 and 8350

    And, um, I think it was three for the last digit, yeah, 153 * 167 is 16700 plus 8350 plus whatever 3*167 is.

    Three sixteens is 48, and three sevens is 21, so 69 except wait that's too few digits, 480 and 21 is 501.

    16700 plus dangit plus 501, 167 hundreds and 5 hundreds, oh yeah, 167 * 5, the 80 and 35 except it's fifty not five so it would be 80350 wait no 8350

    so (16700 + 8350) + dangit, oh, 501, so 16700 plus 8350 plus 501, so three and five is eight and zero plus one is one, so 16700 plus 8851 so 167 hundreds plus 88 hundreds plus 51, so (167+88) hundreds plus 51

    (167+88) hundreds plus 51, well, 88 is twelve less than a hundred, so 167 plus a hundred minus twelve, so 267 minus twelve so 255, so 255 hundreds and 51, so 255551 wait no 2551 wait no 25551

    two five five five one, two five five five one, two five five five one.  Hmm, better check that again

    163*157 wait no it was 153*167 because one six seven zero zero,

    (150+3) * (160+7)

    ((10*15)+(3)) * ((10*16)+7)

    15 * 16 well, (sixteen is 4 squared), so four fours, four fifteens is an hour so sixty, four of that is four hours, 240, 15*16 is 240, and yeah, it's one less sixteen than 256 has.  240 and then it was 150 and 160 so 24000.

    and then seven fifteens is (an hour and 45 minutes) is 105 minutes, yeah,  15 less than (two hours which is 120 minutes) so 240 hundreds and 105 so 24105

    24105 plus (3*167), 21405 wait no 24105 plus (48 and 21), so it is  24105 + 501 so it is 24606 wait what?  okay, 240 hundred is right, and 501 is right, so something's up with my 105... oh, right, seven was actually 70, so 240 hundred plus 1050 plus 501 so 24 thousand plus 1551 is 25551 okay good.

    Me:  "25551, it's 25551"

    Coworker: "What?"

    Me:  "the thing you asked me, it's 25551.  167 times something-three is 25551"

    Coworker:  "Wait, you're still on that?  I didn't think you'd actually do it.  I used a calculator.  It's 25591"
  • oh gosh now i'm tempted to figure out where the error happened that gave you something 40 off

    that said i would probably have reported an approximate figure

    15x15 = 225
    so the result is somewhere above 22500
    16x16 = 256
    17x17 = 289
    result is probably somewhere near 25600.
  • kill living beings
    Let's see... it's (x+3)(x-3) where x = 160, so 160^2 - 3^2. 16*16 is 256, so 160*160 is 25600. minus nine, 25591
  • Let's see... it's (x+3)(x-3) where x = 160, so 160^2 - 3^2. 16*16 is 256, so 160*160 is 25600. minus nine, 25591
