If I could go back in time I would visit Franz Kafka and tell him that in the future he is a beloved author and regarded as one of the greats, and I would give him a hug.
Of course, the things I dislike (or sometimes have problems with) are good things that need to exist, so it's probably for the best my views aren't the only thing represented in the government. The world would be a mess if things were done only according to my limited understanding.

I just say I hire competent people to do the actual governing and keep my subjects happy

List of literary greats that we need to go back and hug:
Man, that Bob the Spider. He's making a rock opera under that rock, and he made a galleon under that mushroom.
I could spend all day looking at the book titles.
Das Kapital, volume IV, by Karl Marx In real life, there are only three volumes, so this is hilarious
Oneiropolis University Dictionary of Nonexistent Terms (First Edition) I need this book in my life.
Cellular Degeneration in the Brain of the Objectivist by Dr Crustaceous McShellfish I wonder what Dr. McShellfish is a doctor of, or if Dr. is simply his first name.
The Long Goodbye by Harper Lee would be an incredible read. Somebody needs to write this as a fanfic.
The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, by Carl Sagan This makes me imagine that in this world, Carl Sagan was, like, a mad-scientist witch-hunter or something, always finding demons and heretics with SCIENCE.
Reconfiguring the Crocodile, by Frank Buaya ohmigosh I get the joke here! Buaya/buwaya/buhaya is, in several polynesian languages, the world for crocodile. How many games have Polynesian Crocodile Linguistic jokes in them!
Between Odradek getting me this, and Yarrun getting me Sunless Sea, I've got hours and hours of mad fun and interesting lore to look forward to.
This game has a weird obsession with Communism and it's hilarious. Red diamond? COMMUNIST. Red Mushroom? COMMUNIST.
Also, apparently this is a universe where there is a book that is The Complete Dark Tower by Steven King. Can I have that.... can Steven King have that?
Anyways, it's strange to me that admins and mods can be muted here. I always thought of admins as having absolute power in a forum, and mods near-absolute power, because that's been my experience elsewhere. I know I'd be an utter tyrant if I was a moderator or admin in a forum.
For some reason, nobody ever seems to study the environmental degradation done by communist nations. Considering China and Soviet Russia, I'd say that communism is probably worse for the environment than capitalism is. In the alternate universe where the right, rather than the left, took environmentalism, this would probably be talked about more.
as for a reason it's the whole iron curtain thing in large part, i imagine. people might defect in response to a massacre but probably not to an extinction, you know?
otherwise western propaganda would have been super environmentalist
My thoughts on Sovereign Citizens: Roads, hospitals, and the internet exist because of society, because of people operating under some form of the rule of law, or some sort of civilization. Some people, like me, can only function with medication, which only exists in civilization. To be a Sovereign Citizen, you need to give up the benefits of government and taxation and bureaucracy or else you're a hypocrite. It really galls me how these people who benefit from infrastructure are so negative about said infrastructure, especially when it is the only way I can live and function.
Taxation isn't theft! It's the only way society can work! Please stop advocating for societal change which would collapse the bureaucracy and infrastructure of the world and leave people like me dead!

That is a good question. Everything I've read about ultra-libertarian types indicates that they at least expect functioning courts, since they lurve contracts to death, but with no government and no rule of law, how would you enforce it? Do what the Mafia did and whack anyone that doesn't comply? Assume good faith, hope for the best, and get milked for all you're worth? Or do you put your ideology aside, do what's best for you and your friends, and, well, form some sort of government?
We've been seeing this in real life with SIlicon Valley types. First they invent a completely LIBRE currency, then they learn why we have banks and financial regulations after they've been robbed a few times (or had the equivalent of a stock market crash, sometimes multiple crashes). Then they try to re-engineer food with LIBRE ingredients, and find out why food safety regulations exist when they end up with spoiled ingredients, or the end product is full of lead or mercury.
With hacking and leaks, it seems that the adoption of digital communication and information was mistake. Harder to falsify paper, harder to get classified documents when they are stored in microfilm in a locked safe.

most modern communists aren't so hot on the dictatorship of the proletariat and command economy bits, though i'm not always clear on the preferred alternative

What else even is there to Communism once you remove those?
