    Another Wednesday, another chemistry lab

Today's was relatively painless, at least

And there's no lab next week because Veterans Day, so I can't complain

This laptop has one of those annoying touchpads where the "buttons" are integrated so you just push down the left or right corner of the pad to left- or right-click.

When I took it apart, though, I found something weird. The mechanism inside is only a single button, regardless of which side you press down. Instead of having two separate buttons, it has a single button and determines which "button" you're attempting to press by the location of your finger.

Yes, I'm sure. I tested it. If I put my finger on the right "button" and push down on the left button with a glove, it registers as a right click.

Talk about overengineering. This can't possibly have been a simpler design than just having two separate buttons behind the scenes.

I thought you were only allowed to use Axe if you were a hetero teenager who skateboards and thinks Call of Duty is tight.
  • normally yeah but this stuff not only smells really nice, but it's also a fairly light and simple scent and it actually keeps working

So, I always wondered what happened to the huntsman guy in the movie Snow White, and if the Queen killed him or he managed to get away in time.

Young me had a theory that Queen Snow White made that guy the captain of the guard or something after the movie was over.

I've never seen Pinnochio, but I know the basic gist, and young me had a theory that after the movie was over, Pinnochio went to the cops or somebody and got the pleasure island guys in jail and saved the donkey-kids.

I thought all the donkey kids died when Stromboli flooded the pleasure island.

75 year old spoilers man!  I haven't seen it yet.

I didn't either, I had an ancient picture book when I was five.

This is worse than the time they spoiled the twist ending of The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde.

i do feel slightly sad about stuff like Jekyll and Hyde, and Citizen Kane

nobody can ever experience those twists the way they were intended
  • We can do anything if we do it together.
Somehow I managed to go into Madoka without knowing about any of the twists that happened.

I'm still inordinately proud of that.

If the Japanese can not care about spoilers, I can do the same.

I'm not there yet, but I can do that.

Spoiler: Kong is killed by Kevin Spacey.

i care less about spoilers than i used to, but i do enjoy experiencing a twist that i didn't know about beforehand

You can if you make them watch Fight Club and they don't know the twist.

I watched Twin Peaks without knowing who killed Laura Palmer.

Poni was spoiled by an RPG sourcebook though.

the story of Fight Club is already pretty famous in itself, though

i've never actually seen the movie but i've read the book so it won't be a surprise if i watch it

    Was unaware, can confirm.

I can, thankfully, say this for an increasing number of things.

The fish in the percolator killed Laura Palmer.

I find Orson Welles' films in general rather boring to watch, but I am entirely fine with Citizen Kane.

This story has been in my head for just under a year. I am really keen to get it out of there and onto paper.
