    I think there's a "subjective" suspension of disbelief, one with regards to worldviews and possibly morality, in addition to the "objective" suspension of disbelief.  Breaching the limits of either makes the audience interpret what they're reading as lies.  Of the two, people seem to be more flexible with the "objective" than with the "subjective".

    EDIT:  Oh, it turns out that I misunderstood the willing suspension of disbelief.  Ignore this.
