Wikipedia is supposed to be an actual encyclopaedia, though. You need references.
Occasionally it does turn into a smarminess arms race, though: The section of the article on death metal about subgenres excludes brutal death metal and slam because some really obnoxious editors claim that there are no valid sources defining the parameters of the subgenre as a subgenre, and then ignore cited articles from AllMusic and the fucking New York Times, because... reasons?
honestly I'm just glad nobody has made a stink of the giant expansion I did of the T&B page on Wikipedia earlier this month
the only edits to it since my deluge have mostly just been people fixing some of my formatting gaffes, but on the whole it is pretty much how I left it

I can understand requiring sources to ensure that what's being said on Wikipedia is actually true.
But, like...anything that verifiably exists should qualify for a Wikipedia article. The idea that something has to have prominent media coverage before it's "notable" enough to have an article is, well, something I disagree with.
Mainly it's because a lot of new media coverage is inherently difficult to verify. Papers of record are, y'know, papers of record. It's vexing, but not entirely absurd.

There are many, many bastions. That's only the fifteenth in terms of depth. I would've put them lower, but past the thirteenth shit gets *really* kinky and I'm not that evil. Either way, far more secure than the Pinnacles of Hermetic Isolation.

practically speaking a lot of it is to avoid niche articles that are invariably polarized into bad advertisements or hatefests. there are a lot of those anyway, but it might be worse if every internet radio show had a page
