I feel like posting "people who died in 2016" lists before January 1st is tempting fate

A lot of deaths can happen in these last 3 days...
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
They actually posted the list on December 24, I believe, which was indeed tempting fate, as it indirectly caused the death of George Michael
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    not really though
  • My cheeks are swollen and red from some allergic reaction to a face wash, so now I have to walk around with cold and wet cotton pads stuck to my face.

    I love having sensitive skin.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
You seem to have a lot of physical ailments.
  • I do. Perks of having skin that is so ridiculously sensitive that brands that are dubbed as being "friendly to sensitive skin" cause me to break out into rashes and spot infestations.

Not to mention the case of ringworm I found in a rather private area this morning.

I really hate Wikipedia's "notability" policy

"No such thing as notability" was the one thing TV Tropes got right
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Wikipedia is supposed to be an actual encyclopaedia, though. You need references.

Occasionally it does turn into a smarminess arms race, though: The section of the article on death metal about subgenres excludes brutal death metal and slam because some really obnoxious editors claim that there are no valid sources defining the parameters of the subgenre as a subgenre, and then ignore cited articles from AllMusic and the fucking New York Times, because... reasons?
  • honestly I'm just glad nobody has made a stink of the giant expansion I did of the T&B page on Wikipedia earlier this month

the only edits to it since my deluge have mostly just been people fixing some of my formatting gaffes, but on the whole it is pretty much how I left it

I can understand requiring sources to ensure that what's being said on Wikipedia is actually true.

But, like...anything that verifiably exists should qualify for a Wikipedia article. The idea that something has to have prominent media coverage before it's "notable" enough to have an article is, well, something I disagree with.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Mainly it's because a lot of new media coverage is inherently difficult to verify. Papers of record are, y'know, papers of record. It's vexing, but not entirely absurd.

By the way, there was a message for you from the Legitimate Business Fairy. He said your great-great-great-granduncle, Bobby Vashtar, died and left you $6,000,000 but you have to pay a $2000 processing fee to get any of it. And it has to be in Green Dot cards.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
*preemptively sends the Legitimate Business Fairy to the fifteenth deepest bastion of the Unspeakable Pleasure Dungeon*
  • I am suddenly curious about why the Unspeakable Pleasure Dungeon needs a fifteenth bastion.

    There's only one inhabitant anyways~
  • image Wee yea erra chs hymmnos mea.
If it's the fifteenth deepest, doesn't that make it really shallow?
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
There are many, many bastions. That's only the fifteenth in terms of depth. I would've put them lower, but past the thirteenth shit gets *really* kinky and I'm not that evil. Either way, far more secure than the Pinnacles of Hermetic Isolation.

moving is so complicated. i'm aiming for "less spots" because i can't do "spotless"

practically speaking a lot of it is to avoid niche articles that are invariably polarized into bad advertisements or hatefests. there are a lot of those anyway, but it might be worse if every internet radio show had a page
  • im still really confused as to why otto von schirach is apparently not wikipedia-notable

he's released material on Ipecac, and is a big enough deal on the Miami bass scene to have multiple in-depth newspaper articles about him

You do occasionally run into wikipedia pages on fringe figures that are clearly written either by said figures, or the four devoted fans they have

It's still weird to me that U.S. Route 400 is a thing.

Its number implies the existence of a U.S. Route 0, when of course there isn't one.

    why is "violation" scarequoted

Because roadgeeks like to call such peculiarities "violations" even though there's not really any formal rule defining the numbering system

Dollar Tree sells "authentic casino played cards" so I bought a deck just because

This one is apparently from the Downtown Grand in Las Vegas

Not the MGM Grand, the Downtown Grand, because apparently "Grand" isn't trademarked

The corners of the cards are clipped so you can't try to buy this deck and sneak it back into the casino to cheat
  • Trying to soothe my face rash again

It doesn't like the heat, it seems

Wal-Mart Television is a frightening concept.

Oh Dan Olson and WHM are both doing Suicide Squad, I am off to go bury myself in the landfill where they dumped the ET cartridges
  • i will operate under the assumption that Dan is teaming up with the surviving member of Wham! whose name i dont remember
  • image Wee yea erra chs hymmnos mea.
How ridiculous. WHM clearly stands for White Mage.
  • hey Odie thank you for buying me Dragon Pass c:

I might stream it sometime this week or next? It seems like a good game for such things

I keep meaning to stream *something* but I've not been up to it lately

Let's not forget that Carrie Fisher was a master of Tweeting.

  • That's literally all you need to know about Dragon's Pass. Everything else is just politics, war games and storytelling
