xkcd's beer comic is still terrible though

I'm literally typing this next to a laser so I'm not anti stem!!
  • why do I feel the need to memorize songs

    I guess just 8ecause I can.

And it's not like "songs from the radio I memorize 8ecause I hear them ten times a day" or something it's like going out of my way to memorize songs from musicals and movies.

The funniest thing about Star vs. the Forces of Evil, to me, is that it's the only cartoon I've found yet that's too Central Avenue for Anonus.

  • it actually is sort of hilarious to me that alcohol consumption is so ingrained into our society that not only does anyone who doesn't engage in it get labeled a killjoy, whenever someone points that out, we assume they have ulterior motivations.

someone was talking about it on HHH actually.
  • kill living beings
yes there is pressure to like beer, no that does not mean people who drink it are faking enjoyment
  • yeah shit was wild
  • no that does not mean people who drink it are faking enjoyment

I mean clearly not all of them, always.

But also I'd think equally clearly, not none of them, never.

We can do anything if we do it together.

it actually is sort of hilarious to me that alcohol consumption is so ingrained into our society that not only does anyone who doesn't engage in it get labeled a killjoy, whenever someone points that out, we assume they have ulterior motivations.

That is very much true, but I find the tooltip a better explanation of that point than the comic itself.

I've come to realize that happens with XKCD a fair bit of the time.

yeah, basically the average overpaid silicon valley programmer is going to be vaguely liberal/Democratic with probably a blind spot towards gentrification or w/e

also, every industry is strongly against any regulation of what they do, and silicon valley is no exception

I've never liked beer (I just can't get past the smell), but it doesn't mean all fermented stuff is off-limits. I'd probably die of hypernatremia if left alone with soy sauce for too long. :o

One thing I can't quite figure out about Lily and Ali traveling in their interdimensional motorhome:

What the hell would the license plate say? Do they just drive around with a Centralia plate on it the whole time? If so, how do they explain that to the American authorities?
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
there seems to be significant overlap between, on the one hand, people who make jokes about SJWs and treat feminism like it's a crazy conspiracy and, on the other hand, people who like Richard Dawkins and treat Islam like it's a crazy conspiracy, at least

i mean the latter are clearly not sympathetic towards the Republican Party mainstream which is Christian, and they tend to bristle when people portray movements like gg as homophobic or transphobic, so i would guess they're liberals of some form?
