I realized a little while back that I'm basically Naney's internet fag hag.
Looking back at the art style (or lack thereof) in Flapjack, it's pretty painfully obvious that Pen Ward and (especially) JG Quintel had a lot of influence on the art since I'm pretty sure Thurop van Orman was more of a voice actor on the show after the pilot
Compared to their own shows, however, the art is kind of jarring because it switches between their styles per character

The way my mom and I always used it, it basically means a woman who hangs out with gay men and identifies with LGBT-ness to some extent regardless of whether or not she's queer herself.

I didn't know Thurop ended up on AT. Huh. I knew he did Gideon of Gravity Falls so one would think he'd be more of the voice actor type, but that's pretty interesting.

At times I've wanted to make a Tumblr alternative called "Bubblr" (though Andrew Hussie stole this name shortly after I thought of it), which is basically the same thing but designed by people who actually know what Tumblr users want.
Honestly I feel like tumblr may be getting close to getting played out anyway. At the risk of sounding hipster of course, but still, I feel like it's about to get hit by the same shit that swamps Facebook and twitter. "Featured posts" and whatnot.

basically I think that the advertising takeover is gonna hit Tumblr soon one way or another.

There have been subtle aesthetic tweaks (e.g. the replacement of more vibrant colors with grays and more idiosyncratic-looking UI features with smoother-looking ones, like the post-type buttons not looking like they're made of paper anymore) that make me wonder if they've noticed that they've gone mainstream...

Honestly, I find it hard to think of Facebook as much more than a straight-up marketing tool anymore.
During my internship last year I learned how Facebook advertisements work. Basically, any and all information you put on your Facebook can be and is used to target advertisements for you. My college, for instance, ran ads targeting people age 17-19 who live in Central Ohio and recently graduated from high school.
I got in back when it was invite-only but I found that it was mostly dominated by fashion things.
Also the layout is too haphazard for my taste, I prefer masonry-style sites when all the content is of a common source (like on Tumblr itself) so using it as a default seems like information overload.
