Anyone ever notice that when Applejack says "It's not the Rainbow Dash show" she has only one "sh" sound in there?
For some reason that bugs me, even though it's consistent with the way Applejack talks.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Is there anything in particular I should do to make the blog more interesting? And does anyone mind that I'm writing it to be somewhat accessible to people who aren't as acquainted with Pokémon? If anyone wants to answer, thanks in advance!
Whenever I hear "drop" in regaards to a song, I think of "Intergalactic Planetary" by the Beastie Boys.
Also, I'm reading the original Inside Macintosh from 1984, and thinking "HEY WAIT THIS LOOKS FAMILIAR" really, really frequently. I've heard...rumors...on the Internets...that the Windows API was heavily InspiredBy the Macintosh Toolbox (in no small part because it made porting Excel easier), but I had no idea the resemblances were this close:
Resource Manager: works pretty much the same way but not quite as flexible
QuickDraw: GDI
GrafPort/GrafPtr: Device contexts and HDC
Window drawing works differently (the window manager in Windows generates WM_PAINT messages when a window is supposed to redraw its client area), but the basic concept is the same -- controls are windows, and windows draw themselves.

Speaking of music genres, I've started to wonder if I would enjoy glam metal. Apparently, the cartoon theme song I'm addicted to right now is supposed to be that.
This is kind of weird, considering I'm not that much of a music expert outside of video game soundtracks.
A build/drop structure is an alternate form of song structure (*As opposed to Verse/chorus*) used in several electronic music subgenres. (*Mostly Dubstep, D'n'B and Trance*)
Tension builds during the build (*Generally about 16 bars for the convenience of DJs*) then the drop releases that energy in one of a few usual ways (*note that these aren't mutually exclusive*):
1.) everything cuts out, and then the drop comes in like a ton of bricks like this
2.) Everything goes nuts (*Skrillex loves this: there's a slight build, then a RANDOM SCREAMING VOCAL SAMPLE, followed by the drop*)
3.) A quick kick or snare roll (*Boring, but it works, used a lot in Trance*)
What a drop consists of depends on the genre. In Trance almost all the track cuts out except the bass and the kick, and then elements are reintroduced over time, building tension into another drop.
In D'n'B the drop usually involves either bringing in the full breakbeat, or (*Less frequently nowadays*) getting rid of percussion altogether
Like that.
In Dubstep (*Brostep, but whatever*) you have minimal drums in half-time and that WUBWUBWUB LFO bass.

I'm aware that Viani is probably joking, but country is one of the few genres I've listened to extensively. My mom likes it. I'm ambivalent toward it.

^^Good music for growing plants, according to the Mythbusters.

Sendak was not a fan of ebooks, stating, "Fuck them is what I say, I hate those e-books. They can not be the future… they may well be… I will be dead, I won’t give a shit!"

Apparently, KISS wasn't actually a part of the movement, but they were one of its inspirations. At least, that's what Wikipedia says on the subject.
Looking at the Wikipedia article, by description alone, glam metal's close relative pop metal sounds a bit more appealing. Pop metal apparently includes Bon Jovi.

For some reason the name "Universal Press Syndicate" is depressing to me.
Perhaps because I associate it with them trying to screw over Bill Watterson
Which is good, because it still counts as talking about it even if you don't say the name. I mean, it wasn't a moratorium against the words "TV Tropes" :p
I'd actually find it funny if there were a word filter that changes "TV Tropes" to "The Site That Must Not Be Named" or something like that.

Thank you for the edumacation, Naney.
Though SYL isn't really the sorta band you can cram into a genre.

KISS and Twisted Sister are in those groups, right? then, there's like two aspects of it that were...okay I guess.
