Okay, I'm pretty sure Naney's comment was on the bottom of the last page last time I checked.

    it was

    something is up

    i suspect a conspiracy
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
A suburban clothing outfitter banking on the desire of well-healed youngsters wanting to look "tough" with "street fashion"? How terribly shocking.
  • white girls with attitude

  • it's especially funny what with Forever 21's strong evangelical christian associations
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Now that I think of it, the kind of white suburban girls who really are into stuff like NWA are probably the ones laughing the hardest at the girls wearing those shirts...
  • really tho

I think its pretty cool to see hip-hop/rap culture integrated into mainstream, instead of being forever relegated as an unaccepted subculture. You're right, those white kids are who made artists like Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, and Lil Wayne rich! Why should we hate on that?

Fair point. But there is something of a bitter aftertaste to how it all came to pass. I guess it just goes to show that the Situationists were right: The spectacle assimilates all challenges to its supremacy, no matter how garish or radical.
  • no matter how garish or radical.

    u sure?

Nothing is worth doing.  But we have the instinct to do, and we should be wise enough to do the thing which is most nearly worth doing.

The world considers me lazy because I do not earn bread.  The world expects of me that I should measure up to its standard of strength, which means that if I “got a job” for eight hours of office work (minus the time spent in being friendly to the other employees, in arranging for a party for the evening, in arguing the merits of a baseball scandal, etc.) [if it] constituted a day and paid me respectable money, I should be a man.  It’s not so much my “being a man” that people desire, it is my being one of them.

I see clearly now that the only thing left for me to do in life is to justify myself for doing nothing.

I could paste this into the comments sections of certain blogs, and no one would notice.

  • Why do most people dont like the death penalty?

It's punishing death with more death. It sends the message that if you don't agree with a person's actions, even ones as objectively wrong as murder or rape, death is an acceptable response. It contributes to the culture of violence that would cause a crime bad enough for the death penalty in the first place.

Free jazz was a challenge to the jazz establishment, not to the marketing machine. I mean subversive things that actually have monetary clout.

As nihilistic as that statement may be, I really like it. A lot. I mean, I think that it's missing a key next step, but I don't think that it is a step in the wrong direction.

Does that make me immature and horrible?

  • Execution also often more expensive than just keeping them alive, surprisingly.

It also occasionally screws over people who were falsely convicted, particularly in the pre-DNA era.

It also gives a weird view of the sanctity of life, since the same party that advocates for it advocates for no abortion.

I always found that terribly strange and disturbing. There is a theoretical logical framework there, but then you factor in their attitudes with respect to war and assisted suicide and it all becomes just so very...

...And even when your hope is gone

My grandparents live two houses from me, and in between lives my uncle, aunt, and cousins (that's been how it is since before I hatched).

Grandparents put in one of those chairs that goes up and down the stairs so you don't have to exert yourself going up the stairs.

I want one, those things are so much fun.

Or, you know, maybe some people are just terrible human beings who don't possess a moral center(for whatever reason)

Is it wrong to not want that person in the world anymore?

No. But wanting something is not the same as acting upon that desire. That is the key difference between sane people and the kind of people that we seek to put behind bars.

More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.

Kind of like how the people who think an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old having consensual sex is rape also think that a man forcibly having intercourse with a woman dressed in skimpy clothing is not. It isn't really about respect at all; it's about control, over who lives and who dies, and over sexuality.
  • More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
Melusina did you know that Andrew Eldritch dislikes postmodernism? :)
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    I did not know that.

Well, how seriously can I take someone with "Eldritch" for a last name?
  • Actually, as long as there's a difference of (three or four, not sure) years, it's not considered statutory rape.

I'm talking about the people who have acted and done terrible things.

How about those people who beat and kidnap other people for years on end?
