You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
^^^ It's a good point, but applying it universally is problematic to say the least. Small plot holes are acceptable if the story manages to be highly successful in execution regardless, but if the flaws become severe enough to impact the narrative flow adversely, then there is something decidedly wrong there.
What I'm saying is, a solid argument does not a "get out of jail free" card make.
NC actually mentioned something about this in his Jurassic Park video, and subsequently his 'Is is Right to Nitpick' video
He basically said 'When the movie cannot hold the audience's attention with things like tone and mood and other bits of movie magic, then and only then will the audience notice the more minor flaws. And if you're screwing up that poorly, then you deserve to be nitpicked along with any other criticism you may face.'
I would also argue that a film can be successful in its intentions without being great, and great without being completely successful, but that is a different sort of corollary entirely.

I was thinking about this a while back, when my siblings and I were making fun of High School Musical and I kept pointing out all the continuity errors.
Like, the thing is, even the best of movies have stupid continuity errors in them, so why was I singling out these?
Then I realized my issue was less with the existence of errors and more with the lack of effort that led to the errors. With good movies you at least get the sense that the editors tried the best they could and a few things just happened to slip through, but with cheap cash-in crap like HSM it's very clear that the editors didn't really care about what they were doing.

I thought the first one was okay for what it was, i.e., a cheap Disney Channel made-for-TV movie, but the fact that it became a massive franchise is kinda puzzling.

More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
Zac Efron
That, but also I think the cast was just generally appealing to the target audience of children and also the musical numbers are entertaining-ish. Also, let us not forget Ashley Tisdale as Sharpay.
Oh man, they had a Suite Life episode that focused on High School Musical, and they made a running joke of Maddie thinking she looks like Sharpay and nobody agreeing with her.
Yes, we get it, they had the same actor, hahahahahahahdfahsdasdlfhsjadf;aswwijeowef;j

Maddie was always a better character than Sharpay anyway

Though I do know that Chiwa Saitō played Homura as well as the cutesy voice for the mascot* in that one magical girl OVA that had "Lyrical Tokarev, kill them all!", so she's cool.
*the mascot was also played by Jōji motherfucking Nakata

All of Dangan Ronpa, in English. Awesome. :D I may watch all these videos just because I liked it so much.
Except Leticia Rocablanca. That one's cool.
