You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I think I worded that wrong. I kinda have little to no drive to change the big picture.
and the policymakers try to figure out the right incentives to convince you to do certain small things that will change or preserve a certain big picture
Yeaaaah, I think I'll stay out of political talk or such for the most part..
Or at least I think what you said was related to politics.
Well, it was less related to politics and more related to poilcymaking.
I was just sorta laying bare one frequently-used idea in policymaking.
It's like making a tax rebate for people who buy a certain kind of car, in order to try to make that kind of car sell better. Policymakers change the incentives in order to change the people's individual decisions.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes it's a good thing, while sometimes it's a bad thing. It all depends.
Like when I wouldn't have to worry about when or how to get my work done, but all I had to worry about was not getting caught by my parents by listening carefully enough to the sound of the garage door when I was playing on my Game Boy.
the sound of the garage door, a boon to so many a sneaky child
more like the bane, since that meant they're back
and i'd also learn to estimate the time it took for them to be out and how i needed to be fast about taking a shower if i hadn't started yet and they were almost home and expected me to have showered
learn which spots of the floorboard and steps of the stairs are creaky, and avoid them -- even in complete darkness
be patient wait for danger to pass recognize over what spans of distance you are fully exposed and have no quick way to hide be extremely quiet listen carefully for what sounds you make as well as what sounds your surroundings generate

but you can't simply say "oh i'm going to play with these tools and i'm going to see what they do"
no
the whole point is you start with an IDEA, a MESSAGE, a CORE FOCUS
and then how do you use those tools to deliver and embellish that idea
Simply ordering the big picture to change doesn't work.
The big picture determines grand strategy, but not details of tactics.
Or at least I think what you said was related to politics. Like I said, I don't think I'm that smart.
