To paraphrase one story to long to repeat verbatim, Wolf made all the plants, roots, seeds, and all such things edible. Coyote, of course, reacts as you expect, because before wolf did that, only Coyote could eat seeds (but others could eat roots, plants, and such. Coyote was ticked about seeds). Coyote went to the end of the world and found Tso'apittse, the rocky giant of the last mountain, where nothing grows because it is harsh and poisonous. From that mountain, Coyote poisoned all the berries and seeds so nobody but him and his wife could eat. So Wolf wished that people had a second stomach to take the poison while the first stomach takes the food. And Coyote ripped out his brother's second stomach, but after two days it grew back. What couldn't be fixed with the second stomach was fixed by boiling, cooking, or grinding. Indeed, in the end, things were better off for man because the poison protected many foods from beetle and his unnumbered family, and man had more food than he would otherwise.
Coyote made the ocean salty, and Wolf made the saltwater fishes. Salmon and Eel were half in a river and half in the ocean when the change happened, but facing opposite ways.
Also, Wolf wanted mountain ice to melt, and Coyote disagreed. Coyote wanted rivers of ice to flow over the land because the sun was too hot on his baby son, but Wolf said no and taught Coyote to dig so he could keep his baby son under the ground.
Its about fifty fifty between the two brothers. Half the time, they turn each other's ideas against them.
Also, it was Coyote who invented fire.
And a third in their armpits, a fourth on the nostrils, and a fifth in the ears, because Shoshone myth is strange, yo.
In another story too long to recount verbatim, Wolf teaches Coyote to hunt, but teaches Coyote to always bring back every piece of what you kill in your hunt. When Coyote first hunts on his own, he killls one of Deer's herd and puts every piece of it in his mouth except for half a kidney, which won't fit. Wolf notices the missing piece and tells Coyote to go back and get it immediately. Coyote finds the half kidney and pounces on it, but it moves out of the way. He tries again, the half kidney moves more, until he is chasing it. It jumps up and flies away from Coyote, who cannot fly. Coyote comes back to Wolf, who stuffs him in a basket and says "I perhaps am to die. Whatever happens, don't watch, don't look, don't leave the basket. and make no sound". Wolf does the same to his family that he did to Coyote.
Deer and his herd come, they now know who has been killing and eating them, but they think it was only Coyote who was doing so. They tell Wolf to give up Coyote and nobody else will have to suffer, and Wolf is all, " What are you talking about, deer? I haven't seen Coyote. Everyone knows kidneys are liars anyway. "
And Deer's like, "Time to die, Wolf. You and all your family." and his whole herd shoots Wolf full of arrows but Wolf keeps on fighting and kills most of them.
Coyote hears the fight and is curious, so he leaves his basket and looks through a peephole, where he sees Wolf die. Coyote cries, making sound that alerts Deer's herd to the presence of someone in that dwelling. Deer and his herd manage to take Wolf's family captive (since Coyote is Wolf's brother, this means Coyote's family, too. But, since Coyote's wife and kids are never mentioned in this story, and Coyote is just learning to hunt, maybe this is when Coyote was young.) except Coyote, who hides in his own mouth because Shoshone myth is weird.
Coyote cries some more and then decides to track Deer and his herd for like seventeen pages. Every once in a while he leaves a bow and a bunch of arrows in the ground (he brought many bows and lots of stacks of arrows).
So, Coyote finds Deer's two grandmothers, who have Wolf's pelt. They are jugling rocks, and Coyote juggles his eyes, which get stuck in a tree. Tgis distracts the grandmothers, Coyote kills them, hides Wolf's pelt in his mouth, kicks out the bones of one of the grandmothers and wears her skin as a disguise, and goes for another ten pages tracking Deer and his herd, doing the same bow and arrow dropping trick, but now shooting some arrows at the sky so he can cut holes in the blackness of his blindness (this makes the stars).
Coyote goes to Deer's herd, infiltrates, steals Wolf's bones and guts from Deer's son, frees Wolf's family, and then fight happens. Coyote runs away with all the components of Wolf, chased by many Deer, but every once in a while he picks up a bow and arrows he dropped earlier and shoots at his pursuers, each time he runs out of arrows, he has already gotten to his next hidden bow and set of arrows.
When half of the pursuing Deer are dead, Coyote puts Wolf's guts and bones back in Wolf's pelt and brings Wolf back to life. Wolf and Coyote thenchase the would-be pursuers back to the place where Wolf's family is fighting Deer's herd. The canines win, and go home. Wolf tells Coyote to just scavenge instead of hunt, and that is why Wolves hunt animals and when they are done, Coyotes eat the remains.
But the stars Coyote created let other animals see better in the dark, making it more difficult for Wolf to hunt them. And that is why Wolves howl at the stars (not the moon, that would be silly).
Man, I think GC's Coyote is toned down from the weirdness if the original.

Also, The Shoshone make no linguistic difference between "Coyote" as in a coyote" and "Coyote" as in a man named Coyote. And some of these stories, or at least some aspects, make sense more as people. Not a herd of deer, but a tribe, the deer tribe. But other aspects make more sense as animals, like how Wolf's pelt has to be reunited with his guts and bones (people can live without moccasins, but wolves need their pelts).
I mean, maybe there really was a chief named Wolf who got captured by the Deer tribe who were after his brother named Coyote. And maybe Coyote did rescue his big brother Wolf, and the specificness of the bow and arrow trick just screams "based on a dimly remembered act of awesomeness" to me.
Or maybe it is actual animals, or a combination.
I know, but he just doesn't have the same relationship with Coyote. I feel like Coyote needs a straight man of his own tier.
I'd also like to see Coyote's son.

Also note, that in the exponents of the (X+Y)^N sequence, there is a pattern, too, which is pretty easy to figure out.
Additionally, with (X-Y)^N, you just turn every other one negative.

So, using addition to keep making more rows of the triangle, and counting both up and down to get the exponent numbers, we can easily figure out (X-Y)^12 without actually doing any multiplication.

But that doesn't happen with whole numbers.
So, the trick is to find a quick way to figure out the part with the black background and the part with the green background. Once you figure out those parts, you subtract green from black, times it by XY, and add it to X12 and Y12.
Or, if you don't want to go to the work of simpifying, just use
(1X12 + 1Y12) + (66X10Y2 + 66X2Y10) + (495X8Y4+ 495X4Y8) + (932X6Y6)

The numbers that precede X and Y follow the Pascal Triangle. The Exponents are simply descending. THe Pairs are identical but with the numbers for the exponents switched.
So, if you make a big long list of this for a bunch of (X-Y)^N, you can just pull it out whenever a math question asks you to do that.
OR, if you can't remember these long equations, draw the pascal triangle to the row you need, and do the descending and ascending exponents. Then plug in your numbers for X and Y. Break the problem down into little tiny pieces, just do one pair, or half of one pair, at a time. Figure out the sum of the positives and subtract the sum of the negatives. Add what remains to X^12 and Y^12.
But, for actually plugging in the numbers, you just have to do the pencilwork. 3 * 3 is nine, and then times nine by three, and then times that number by three, and do a bunch of multiplication. Or add three nines together, and then three twenty sevens, and so on.
In fact, if you figure out X, 3X, 4X, and all up to 9X, you can just plug those in and add zeroes after.
Turn 495 X to 5X plus 9X(with a zero after it) plus 4X(with two zeroes after it). You don't have to do nearly as much multiplying this way if you just copy from what you've done.
SO, figure out what X^2 through X^12 is, figure out what Y^2 through Y^12 is, figure out what 2X, 3X, and so on are up to 9X, figure out what 2Y, 3Y, and so on up to 9Y are.
Make a Pascal Triangle with simple addition, get to the row you need, do descending and ascending exponents, and plug in what you figured out last paragraph.
Or, you could just subtract Y from X, and figure out what that number is when you exponent it by twelve. But that sounds like too much work, and too complicated.
But, well, mulltiplication is basically doing a bunch of addition in a row. Reduce exponents to multiplication, multiplication to addition, and yeah.

Take a deck of 64 cards, take the top quarter, the second quarter, the third quarter, and the fourth quarter of the cards, and lay them on the table. Shuffle the first with the second; and shuffle the third with the fourth.
Then, shuffle (as in, shuffle the top half with the bottom half) five times, and you will have the deck. Take it into the top quarter, second, third, and bottom quarter; and the four quarters will exactly match the four quarters you had at the beginning; except with the second quarter where the third quarter should be, and vice versa.
Use it to remind yourself why people who spend time shuffling cards have no free time.
