    anthropomorphic ponies

There's fan-service contained in a lot of it, no doubt about it.

It's not just that, though. It's like, a really fawning kind of fanservice trying to pass itself off as innocent comedy, or something.

    Oh. Well, better than
    actual ponies at least.
...On that note, what about these things are sexy to people?

It kind of makes me cringe.  idk.

^ The wise do not tempt fate

    nor the internet
  • Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."

    That's terrible.

You are a terrible person for typing that.

And i am a terrible person for laughing.
  • i dunno they are just sexy?

    idk

it's not like the existence of mlp porn that i am objecting to mind

i mean i do like some of it

it's just like 80% of the fanart is wank material, and it's just become so commonplace it's really disturbing.

it's turned into like some sort of scarier, less self-aware microcosm of the furry fandom

^ I'd still like it if it weren't for the endless waves of porn doing like this clockwork orange effect thing on me

is this just something that you have to be a furry to understand?

I....actually kind of like humanized ponies. They're cute. D:

It's like watching the fandom implode

soon all that will be left will be just another breed of internet creep that everyone else does their best to avoid

    yeah they are

it's just like why do most of them have HUGE KNOCKERS
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Yeah, that part I don't like as much. :P

Depends on the humanizations for me. I've long been fond of Kreoss's humanizations...

    Yeah, those are fine.

They don't look like poorly-disguised fetish material.

    ^ ^ ^ those are nice

I mean I love the show, and the characters, and it's like

why has everything become so fucking awful

it's not just the porn, it's endless waves of asinine drama and like almost no good content or self-awareness

    i dun geddit at all.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
It's dA; if it were porn, you wouldn't be able to see it without logging in. And yes, it's safe.

It's weird to me, because prior to MLP:FiM i tended to avoid fandoms anyway, and one of the reasons i became more relaxed towards them was seeing how chill and basically self-aware the bronies seemed to be for the most part.

i mean there were always creeps but before it felt like they were in the minority.

When I first saw those comics, I didn't realize they were anthropomorphic versions of the ponies. Their faces looked so flat that I assumed they were humanized but still had wings and horns and stuff.

It clicked when I saw them in color.

...i guess i could have made that exact same post just now about homestuck or tv tropes, with just a few word changes.

    i don't learn
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Honestly, my opinion of the show itself has lowered. I still like it somewhat, but not the way I did around a year or two ago.

At the very least it's one of the few things of value on its network, but there's better animation elsewhere (past and present) and the show isn't exactly God's gift to mankind.

The fandom just seems to be kind of in a downward spiral, going by secondhand accounts.
  • homestuck does not seem so bad

i mean, there was that huge drama thing just yesterday

and it seemed like about half as bad as the pony fandom on an average day
  • Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
I can't really comment on fandom drama and craziness. Like Bobby, I don't participate in any fandoms. I've seen a few bizarre and unsettling pornfics myself, but I don't go actively looking for them.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Maybe I should read more fanfic or devour more fanart (the latter of which I was much more into at the time I first got into the show)

Homestucks are not nearly so bad as bronies but are less awesome than my first impressions led me to believe.

    Generalizations!

i was also late to the Homestuck party; i started reading around the start of Act 5 Act 2
  • edited 2013-01-14 19:49:44

i started reading in act 6

it's kinda funny how it was different from what i thought it would be like

like I thought that it would be kinda disorganized and lots of characters would die for no reason

but that wasn't the case really
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I wonder how popular MSPA was prior to the Homestucksplosion

Haven's been reading it since like Bard Quest or Problem Sleuth

I started reading HS in December 2010 or so

  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I feel like I should read Act 5 Act 1 (and part of Act 5 Act 2) again

I tried reading PS back around June of 2011 but didn't get very far in it :/
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
i think i will wait until Homestuck ends before i make my mind up about whether it is as good as Problem Sleuth.

    ^^ That's true.

The thing with Problem Sleuth is, even though i was late reading it and i didn't get to follow it as it unfolded like with Homestuck, to me it's basically perfect.

I honestly have no idea when Act 7 (which is supposed to be the last one) of HS will get here, considering that Act 6 Act 5 Act 2 just started.

Considering Huss is a huge troll, he might just keep adding stuff unto Act 6 for a ridiculous amount of time.

    That'd be neat.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
I started reading Homestuck about halfway through the [o] intermission.
  • act 7 will be just 1 panel
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Chronologically Act 6 is already the second-longest one, isn't it?
