At least with fry-ups and Sunday roast, you can make it yourself in the states, or at least get pretty close...

A tin of baked beans will get you pretty far for much of British cuisine. :P

Pickle Sandwiches are pretty impossible without a British specialty shop or very large grocery market, though.

Oh so cucumber sandwiches aren't real British food, but pickle sandwiches are?

    What the heck, Friday?

Friday's view of cucumber sandwiches is that they where popular like a century ago and no one really eats them, anymore...

But I keep hearing about them from various (admittedly American sources).

Also, Brits put tinned corn on a whole bunch of stuff Americans would never dream of.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
I don't recall ever putting tinned corn on anything!

    Did not do the research?

Here in Pittsburgh we have the Heinz Field. I've never been there

Friday has it on sandwiches a great deal and even on Pizza.

The idea of getting corn in a sandwich is pretty foreign here, but I noticed I could easily order a sandwich with corn in it in the U.K.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
I've never put corn on a sandwich but I don't see anything odd about ordering a pizza with corn on it, fwiw.

  • Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
The only time I've ever seen pizza with corn on it was on a chicken fajita pizza. I should probably try corn on "regular" pizza sometime and see how it works.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
It goes pretty well with ham and pineapple.

    On pizza, I mean.

It's interesting that Americans don't really just arbitrarily make "corn" a topping, yet we grow so much of the dang stuff.

Ah, interesting. Sounds like a good combination, then. Though I'm not the biggest fan of ham, so I usually just get pineapple with pepperoni. Yes, I know it's weird.

Yeah, Heinz is actually an American company and they really are based in Pittsburgh. However, kind of like Ford, a lot of the cool stuff they make never leaves the UK. :P

Yeah, Ford makes all these tiny, awesome looking British cars that we don't get over here. T_T

It's be nice if I had some corn, I'd even talk like a troglodyte if that would help.

Meanwhile, ponies are all confused about this thread.

The original Escort was Ford UK, as are the current Focus and Transit Connect, but the Scorpio came over as the Merkur XR4Ti and bombed, and I don't think the Ka was ever brought over.

So apparently Ponibooru is shutting down.

Weirdly I don't care as much as I thought I should.

    Rainbow Dash Presents: Haunting Nightmare

I didn't like it quite as much as the "Rainbow Factory" episode--in particular, I was disappointed that this one didn't feature any of Dash's hilarious narration--but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I especially liked the filly Twilight nightmare sequence. It had the feel of an old horror-themed adventure game, somehow.

Makes me wonder if all that stuff regarding Pinkie Pie's performance being the "Worst we've ever seen" was a dig at G1...or MAYBE, because it wasn't actually THAT bad, it was a dig at the fans for thinking G1 was the "Worst we've ever seen", or MAYBE it was just an homage, and I'm over thinking this whole thing.

    Also:

That about sums up my feelings on the episode, as well.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
...that refers to "Sweet and Elite", right?

(Shut up, it's a long time since I watched the show.)

Yes, and I had actually forgotten the name of the episode completely until you mentioned it.

I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
"You Gotta Share" and its reactions can't be a dig at the fans; that episode was probably having the final touches (e.g. not the song, any of the writing, or most of the animation) put on it by the time the fans came to their attention.

My feelings on "Sweet and Elite" are that Fancy Pants is an awesome person and he and Rarity should start dating.

(Spike/Rarity is disconcerting and maybe she should set him up with Sweetie Belle.)

I guess he is a "baby dragon" but that seems...kinda wrong to me.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Spike/Sweetie Belle seems less troubling than Spike/Rarity (as a proposed ship; Spike's crush on Rarity in the show itself is just awkwardly cute).

I enjoyed "Sweet and Elite" but I do remember being bothered by aspects of it, particularly Twilight's complete lack of self-awareness when she was a Canterlot pony herself.

I think the big thing that bothered me about "Sweet and Elite" was that Rarity lied in the first place...she and her friends saved Equestria twice, isn't that a good enough story on its own?

This bugged the CRAP out of me. I mean isn't "Rainbow Dash? Oh she and I help save Equestria from certain doom...TWICE. Proof? Of yes, of course, If you'll follow me to the Castle I can show you the stained glass windows. I'm sure Princess Celestia will be more than happy to recount the tale of how us Poniville "country bumpkins" saved your collective aristocratic asses." going to work a hell of a lot better than any LIE she could come up with?!

Not to mention the dragon and some of her successful dresses in the fashion world including designing  a SET of dresses for a famous pony entertainer.

Honestly, even if the other ponies are so caught up in high-class world to pay attention to the POSSIBLE END OF THE FREAKIN' WORLD you'd think Rarity would be smart enough that she's accomplished more noteworthy deeds in the last year or so than that entire group could probably muster together...well...except for Fancy Pants, perhaps...

..."Time Turner", eh? I imagine their legal department wouldn't let them go outright with "Doctor Whooves".
