They finally finished with our streets for the day, which is nice, though they'll be back tomorrow to do the few streets in this subdivision they haven't gotten to yet.
Then I went out to Kroger with Mom to do some shopping and went and got my sister from school and yeah this has been a pretty uneventful day really
The first antinatalist was a shark antinatalist. He argues that sharks are by their very existence a blight upon the world, and that all sharks deceive themselves into happiness by feasting upon fish and squid. The second antinatalist is a human, and he argues much the same about us, and does so on the internet (sharks do not have internet, they have intercoral)
Tragically, while the two were conversing, an Old God arose from the sea and proved them both wrong in a hilarious manner.

Seriously though, the fact that any female character I make will almost inevitably get turned into a mindless screwtoy for the masses bothers me.
That's not really the case. I seriously doubt that the majority of people who read novels by Annie Proulx or Jonathan Coe write or draw pornographic depictions of the characters therein. I mean, if you create a popular video game or comic or film, then yes, it is quite likely that there will be prurient responses to your work. But note the word "popular."
I don't really think about it much. Assuming that I would be notable enough seems arrogant, and dwelling on it as if it is the end of days seems at once futile and morbid.
Ah, good point. Purely literary characters are better protected against R34 than film characters. I always forget about that because you never hear about purely literary characters in my Tumblr circles. Just comic book superheroes and fandom bait.
Still, I know that there are people who'll look at the lack of smut made for a series and interpret that as a challenge. And those people will come for me if I ever gain a smidge of popularity as a writer.
Proulx did write Brokeback Mountain, and I'm pretty sure someone's written gay cowboy smut about that.

It's not just cruel. It's wasteful. Most of the time, they just slice off the fins and dump the living body into the sea to die. People could be eating that shark.

The most important female character that I've ever written is a former child soldier who was heavily scarred and burned through incidents in her youth, both before and after her military career. There are many reasons why I made her ugly, reasons that affect but do not dominate her character arc, but a small part of it was to send a message to the theoretical fandom that, hey, maybe rampantly sexualizing this character shouldn't be your first option.

Oh, I forgot to add: Brokeback Mountain was based on a short story which, while well-received, wasn't particularly well known outside of literary circle until the film hit it big, So the likelihood of someone writing smut based on Proulx's other work still strikes me as unlikely.
And I don't have any idea how that relates to the "CAUCASIAN" joke on Homestuck. Personally, I thought it was funny but I can totally get why people might think it was a bit dismissive, but I don't understand why anyone would derive "Hussie's a horriterribad racist!" from it.
