my impression of Oblivion is that it's like one of the go-to examples of an open-world WRPG with lots of character paths and character customization
my impression of Skyrim is that it is about FUS RO DAH and burly guy wearing that horned helmet thing and no one ever gifts it on SteamGifts because it's too expensive (or was at the time), so basically memes.
supposedly Skyrim is better than Oblivion? Except this piece of information is filed under "things other people say that I am not sure is true" in my head. i mean it only seems to be justified by being newer. what does it even have?
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
also iirc you can't buy original Skyrim anymore? now it has to be Skyrim Special Edition so they have an excuse to jack up the price again
I mean you only had 5 years and a massive marketing campaign's worth of hype to buy it.
It was only a few years after release that they dropped the base price to $19.99 and discounted it to $4.99. I had presumed it'd stay there, like most games do after they hit that point.
This appears neither in a search for "skyrim" nor in the supposedly complete list of Bethesda games. I didn't know "hiding" a game like that was a thing.
The version that comes with the DLC seems to be legitimately gone, though, and buying them pushes the price up to the more than the remastered version anyway.

The initial reports were incorrect: Tom Petty is not dead, as of the time I'm posting this. He is, however, on life support following a cardiac arrest.
Things aren't looking good, but here's to hoping he pulls through, because god knows today could use some good news.
So I was playing Oblivion, and I was heading to the main quest location, but I couldn't be bothered to walk. So I stole a horse from some stables. Next thing I know, I'm being arrested for stealing said horse. I kill the guard, and think that that's that.
Oh no.
When I'm in bed, I get a visit from someone from the Dark Brotherhood who wants me to join them. But to do so, I have to kill some old man in an inn. I do that, and then I'm a part of the Dark Brotherhood and get some swanky robes that offer better protection than the stole guard uniform I was wearing.
tl;dr I tried stole a horse and ended up becoming an assassin.

I remember when the next poster and I were in high school and we would go down to the retrogaming store every Friday afternoon and pick up NES cartridges to last us the weekend
I never did arrows. Or potions, or anything I worried about using up, even back to being a wee grunt playing my brother's copy of Morrowind.
I also still grab everything and make piles of stuff.
And also obsessively savescum. Sure, a fight with a vampire takes ninety minutes, but it's so satisfying to force the sequence of events to happen so the vampire never hits you and your every punch does a tiny amount of damage that adds up.
NO COMPUTER. You will NOT outlast my seven-year-old patience. My tenacity EXCEEDS ALL BOUNDS.

one time I rented Metal Gear and they gave me Operation Wolf instead

the accuser must be the one who's sponsored by Goo Gone!
I had the 360 version, I no longer have a 360, I've occasionally considered buying the PC version but not at that price
Also the remastered version is $40.
