I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I guess that was a misconception of mine (I seldom went there.), seeing as how you brought it up in Yack Fest more than anyone else (probably not that often in retrospect.).
TBH, that's probably the big reason I don't feel comfortable mocking the man. There's clearly something wrong there, at least that's how I see it. You're not that paranoid and normal.
An ex-troper just came into the SA thread, partially defended the wiki, and the goons went crazy with reporting his posts and generally acting like he'd admitted to being a serial killer, and the thread might get locked if the mods don't understand what just happened.

^^I just tried to read it and I merely skimmed what was being said.
My brain was like "LOL! Nope!" and I imediatly moved on to more important things like waiting for my multi gigabyte downloads to finish and posting pony pictures here.
It's not a pun, it's a real hugbox. Temple Grandin invented it, she noticed that the cattle she worked with were more calm in confined spaces and made the device to see if she could use it to help with her social anxieties.
People should not forget that a real human being exists on the other end of the wires, is my general thought. If you wouldn't do it face-to-face, you probably shouldn't do it on the Internet either; grow some moral principles.
Neither does this mean you should have to hold yourself to a higher moral standard than in any other form of communication, either. It's just another way to talk.
The "nobody should ever be mean, ever ever ever" side is wrong, because what this does is make real points of conflict be ignored until they have built up so much anger and misunderstanding that a community explodes, and it means that people who SHOULD be excluded from the community are not, because complaining about them breaches the "all nice, all the time" stricture.
On the other hand, do I really need to explain the flaws in the Internet-sociopath "It's not like it's REAL, duhh!" conception, either? Things don't get magically fine just because of Internet.

I think people tend to abuse the "Talk shit get hit" freedom people get when on the internet, since you can be as uncivil and inhuman as possible with your words and treatment and never have to fear people retaliating physically towards you.
In other news, the new guy in the SA thread has gone from "OHMYGOD get out of there these people will eat you alive like the wolves they are" to "the greatest poster of all time"
