I know recent events there are weighing on a lot of people's minds, and they're using this place to discuss them. There's nothing really wrong with that, it's just that sometimes it could be to the exclusion of any other topics.

So I've decided that making a dedicated thread for those events is a good course of action.

I do advise something: don't use this thread to air grievances with tropers. If you must complain to people here about that guy who annoys you so much, then use PMs.

I would like for this thread to be as civil and un-volatile as possible.

I'm interested to see what shape the forum takes before I pass judgement.

That is, I was interested to see what would happen with the Heralds and the possibility of another mod.

I wasn't expecting The Night of 1,000 Rage Quits.

Though maybe things will calm down after a bit. Some more staff an another mod would definitely help a few things.

I haven't quit outright yet, but I've decided to take a break for a while until this whole ordeal settles down a bit.

I tried to be very careful not to phrase my "Absent people" posts in a way that could be misinterpreted as ragequitting, after the whole Kris Mahai incident.

And for the record I did not ragequit, they just don't ban you if you just ask them to.

Or at least that's what I was told, then they went around and did for Charlatan, which annoyed me greatly. -_-;

Can't speak for anyone else though. It seems rather dismissive to say that anytime someone feels the need to leave the site permanently or at least for a long period of time, it's "ragequitting". Especially in cases like Melloncollie's and Kris'.

I've gone on hiatuses not because the fora, but because real life was calling.

The second time made me reflect on how much I didn't miss some things like OTC and I adjusted the threads I read accordingly.

People on TVT as of late don't seem to act like IJBM2 is some terrible place these days. Maybe it's because there's less drama there now, and if IJBM2 ever got brought up it was usually in a negative context.

At the time I thought that was silly, but AU changed his name on there so I figured I might as well change mine as well because we're rather closely associated.

Yeah. I've expressed my issues with BTL in private to Anne previously. Suffice it to say I don't quite think that's the case.

I think it's a catharsis at best, to be completely honest with you.

As for BusyStreet, I must've missed that somehow. BS hates everything to an even greater extent than ED and SA do.

From what I've seen, BTL has been less about fixing TVT and more about mocking people and acting self-righteous about it.

Just saying that when over half your members are either banned or have left willingly, it's a bit hard to take "Making TVTropes Better" as a serious mission statement.

But I can feel myself becoming agitated already, and that's precisely what I left TVT to escape. Is there anyway to block a specific thread?
