wait, you have a betamax player

    awesome
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
    Indeed.

Also, your room seems pretty tidy compared to my wannabe crack den.

Yeah, my brother was a Beta fan and collected them. Beta always had an air of mystery to us; we had Beta tapes from the late 1970s, but we couldn't play them for years because our bio-dad ended up breaking the 1977-vintage SL7200 we had trying to fix it, or something like that. That changed when we found a working SL-HFR70 (a 1985 model that was much nicer) at a yard sale in Charlottesville in 1991. Not only could we play back the old tapes, but Sony was still making blanks at the time, so we recorded stuff off the air on them, too.

Since then, he's managed to get a bunch of them, both Sony and Sanyo (the most common kinds). He's said we can sell the ones we aren't using.

@Lee: Heh, nice to see I'm not the only one who puts a clock radio in front of a bunch of other devices with the time on them. I'm hella nearsighted, so I can read the big red digits on my old clock radio easier than the tiny blue ones on my cable box.

Also, you seem like a good person to ask: Any idea where one might acquire a laptop hard drive on the cheap? Mine seems to be dying and I don't want to sink a lot of money into a replacement since I want to get a new computer when I can, but I need a working laptop in the meantime.

For new drives, the usual places online (Newegg, Amazon) are your best bets. If you need something right away and you're near a Micro Center, that's good as well, if a bit more expensive. (Avoid places like Staples or Best Buy.)
  • i'm on a roll with music stuff as of late

    it's nice

As for the clock radio: It's also there because the outlet closer to the head of my bed is switched. I really wish this house had more ceiling lights and fewer switched outlets. :P

Heh, this basement doesn't even have an outlet by my bed, otherwise the clock would be there.
  • Update: I forgot this account doesn't have NSFW privileges because I really want to talk about penises right now

    Pfft. NSFW granted.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Have to read some stuff for a friend writing a novel. Might do that later. Feel tired, gross and lazy. Otherwise, OK.

Why am I talking about my boring, boring life in semi-public?
  • Feel tired, gross and lazy.

try taking a bath then going for a walk?
  • because talking about yourself is a natural thing that humans do.

I was going to shower, but I did not think of going for a walk. That is a splendid idea.

^ ...true, but not especially happy-making.
  • i myself will need to take a shower sometime today

i was going to yesterday, but the tub was full of dishes

my hair is at that "not yet greasy, but it will be soon" stage
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Mine is becoming stringy and lank, having lost much of its lustre. I am also quite certain that I reek to the high heavens, but I have spent most of the last week in my room or wandering around alone, so I have little point of reference.

Dear goodness, I am a wretched beast.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Ach. Doing that now. See you all in a while.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Welp, waiting for my hair to dry enough to go outside with my headphones without freezing or getting water on said headphones.

Feeling dirty is unpleasant, yet with everything else... I procrastinate. Mainly when I don't have to be around other people. That changes a lot of things, both ways.

I love how the "N" in "NEW!" gets cut off in the middle one.

Off for that walk now. Toodle-oo.
  • I actually might eat those, but I'd hate myself for it.

Sort of like that one time I had Corn Nuts.

They better still come with a prize inside.

    Same here.

I tend to wash my hair sparingly, since washing it frequently will cause it to curl up again, but it kinda drives me crazy because it seems like the nights when I get fed up and just want to wash it are also the nights when I really don't want to spend the extra 10+ minutes of washing it then blow drying it. :\

I actually might eat those, but I'd hate myself for it.

Sort of like that one time I had Corn Nuts.

What are you talking about, bro, Corn Nuts are awesome!

I don't remember if I've ever eaten Corn Nuts
  • I had corn nuts once

I formed no opinion of them

I associate Corn Nuts with this little Sunoco station off I-71

When my sister's friends lived in Blanchester, we'd drive her halfway and meet at the gas station there, and we'd almost always buy Corn Nuts

Not sure if I ever have. I have most certainly eaten Cracker Jacks, though.

I just finished watching my HISMV DVD. It's amazing how many of the jokes in that aren't dated, especially considering the TTA writers' love of mocking pop culture. (Then again, who knew that Jay Leno or The Simpsons would still be around in 2013?)

Also, I'm relatively sure there's Blues Brothers references buried in there that none of the IMDb submitters have yet noticed.

In other news, I'm busy preparing an Intel machine to replace the mini, for now, since the mini's video issues are driving me nuts. :P I was going to use a mini-ITX machine I have hanging around, but it's missing its PCI riser, so I'm pressing Mom's old XPC into service. Even with an old Core 2 Duo and 945 chipset, it'll still be several times faster than the 1.25 GHz G4 it'll be replacing.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Drinking tea and feeling neither good nor bad, although the tea may be pushing things in the direction of good.

Maybe I should drink tea more often.

Anonus doesn't like hot beverages, but I do.

Shall I make some recommendations for you?

Hmm... well, first I'll need a vague idea of what you like.
