Hrm, I want to make sure that a thread does not get gassed. How do I do that?
I know! I'll break the most important rule of said thread and mock people there for having the audacity to call people out for being terrible human beings! That'll show them!!
Please do, I don't particularly care for complaining about complaining about complaining about complaining about complaining about complaining about complaining.
Argument: Were running out of resources. Counter Argument: No, we're not. If we are, the price mechanism will immediately raise prices for the stuff that is expensive. Interestingly, copper and tin actually (after adjusted by inflation) got cheaper from 1950. Also, note that when inflation adjusted, the trend in the price of oil actually goes downwards instead of upwards. So, no, we are not running out of resources. The law of economics state that it is nearly impossible, and even if we do, the law of economics state that it would barely be noticed
Please tell me that this is a troll post because this guy is failing basic politics as the oil price has been supressed in the US by the American Federal government for political reasons
Oh. I somehow thought we were still on Some Random Dude On Something Awful.
Still, I have no idea who that is.
Also I've heard people make the "recycling does NOZING" argument before. I don't buy it, but he's hardly the first, so it's not like it super-shocking or anything.
Hmm, I've looked at that thread. OP's argument might be wrong, but I don't see how it's not legitimate. How it's something that moderately decent and intelligent person cannot think.
Seriously, it is disturbing how quick people seem to be to say that something they disagree with is shocking, unacceptable, and only [redacted] people might think that way.
If you disargee with something, argue. Politely. Or leave the matter alone.

Except a moderately decent and intelligent person is familiar with the concept of the Finite Earth
If everyone was arguing from one true perfectly informed position, there would be no need to argue.
I'm not saying that the guy is right. But I do not see how he is in any way outside the limits of normal, or how his opinions are outraeous instead of simply wrong.
how can one say that they know stuff about how the world works and then go on to say that any physical object has infinite mass on a planet without infinite mass
Honestly, lola has and will always annoy me, if only because her whole thing is basically "Hey, let's state random obvious meaningless facts about the way people post in the internet or ask random stuff about MGS"
The fact that everyone is practically worshipping her for just mocking some people is quite...something, alright.
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Abrupt, I know, but I think we're done here.
We started this thread because discussion of TV Tropes was too prevalent on the rest of the board at the time. It's outlived this purpose and gone on to become both headache-inducing and repetitive in the extreme, and by nature of the topic it seems unlikely that this will change anytime soon. Discussion of TVTropes won't become verboten unless it turns out it has to be, but there doesn't need to be a dedicated topic for it either.
(This wasn't brought on by the current topic, if you're wondering.)

At this point it's only a matter of time til a mod mistakes Lola for a goon and bans her.
Leechblock it or something.
^the fact that "troper" is now an insult is both hilarious and depressing.
Because I honestly see nothing wrong with it.
Also, I was using Tropers as an insult looong before Lola.
I'm just saying that it seems rather silly to use something that's self-evident as an insult.
That'd be like me calling you gay. It's technically true, but it's also not really an insult.
Although some people do use 'gay' as an insult, but, fuck them.
Something indeed, Juan.
Something indeed.
