The silence at the very beginning of Ocarina of Time is really quite effective.
I feel like silence in general is often under-utilized or poorly utilized in many game soundtracks. In movie soundtracks, as well, though to a lesser extent.
You know, you'd think that, given the way the internet salivates over Lovecraft, at least once someone would have mentioned that this game is a Lovecraft game.
I realize the story doesn't matter in any of the old Id shooters, but still.

I've seen it discussed in Lovecraft fan circles now and then.
Quake deserves credit for depicting Shamblers somewhat like they're actually described. Loses points for them burning your face off with lightning, though.
It was lagging so hard that I literally could not play the game.
The last game I played that was optimized so poorly was Asscreed's Freedom Cry, and that was a 3D Ship Simulator made by the winner of Worst Optimized Games for the last four years and running

I didn't know Capcom owned the rights to Assassin's Creed now! :P
I still maintain that no 2.5D platformer has the right to be that laggy.
It didn't feel laggy once I turned it down to low graphical settings.
...Well, yes, but that just means that it has awful optimisation.
Yeah, everything using Unreal Engine to do 2.5D has that problem, I think.
Except not. Guilty Gear Xrd is Unreal, as is Shadow Complex, Deadlight, and, well, Bloodstained, and those all run fine. In Guilty Gear's case in particular, it's one of the smoothest games around.
Never Alone, which is the first 2.5D game that comes to mind when I think of "possibly laggy 2.5D game because too processor-intensive", uses the Unity engine, not the Unreal engine, while Mighty No. 9 uses Unreal.
It kind of ran out of steam at the end, because it seemed like the only way it knew to ramp things up was to spam way more of the big tough enemies at me, one of which seemed genuinely unfair to fight. And because all the weapons had been introduced, the only way to ramp up the player's abilities was to throw power-ups at you, which only go so far.
I hear CSGO skin betting is the subject of a new lawsuit against Valve. And the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, a U.S. consumer protection agency, has been notified about this.
^^ I'd expect any lawsuit filed against Valve because a third party used their game as betting material on their own unaffiliated site would be about as dead in the water as it gets.
I mean, wasn't Valve warning people about that shit?

I mean Earthbound already seems deceptively mature and interesting on its own
Which is why it doesn't HAVE TO be about abortion or anything like that
We'd just have to watch too much Teekyu or something.

Another FUCKING cliffhanger

Assassin poems, Poems that shoot
guns. Poems that wrestle cops into alleys
and take their weapons leaving them dead

Shit is getting very, very real.
Revenge against Byblos is nigh. The fucker has it coming.
