That's pretty much the perfect way to put it, actually.
i find subs and dubs are both often quite stilted, but at least in subs you have the original tone of voice for a reference.
On the other hand if i'm not looking at the bottom of the screen all the time i miss things, and i have to pause when two characters are talking at once.

I have something like ten different major languages on my "to learn" list. Japanese is on there because of modernist poetry and tanka. Well, OK, and because the words are fun to sound out.

Latin is like my favorite language. One, because the language is very nice, it rolls off my tongue easily. And two, the music sung in Latin sounds very beautiful.

Also, Beelzebub is awesome and all of you should read it. Though I'm not liking the translation style of the new RHS translator. It's not bad, but the guy (or gal) adds too much swearing and slang.
