Blizzard is playing the Tumblr Shipping Bait game so well with Overwatch i'm considering buying a multiplayer FPS
Explain.
not much to explain, people on Tumblr spend enough time writing about and drawing pictures of Overwatch characters that I feel like buying the game to keep up ...although you don't really need to buy the game to do that
Free Speech is a troublesome thing. So integral to our self-perception and our discourse, that to suggest getting rid of it would be irrational.
However, this leaves it open to abuse, to be a shield for satire and hate speech and bullying. You say six, when I say five.
Being... not good with words as much as with a gun, not charismatic or persuasive, I make the wager that I lose less from the loss of my freedom of speech than do those who abuse free speech, and thus conclude that in that regard, it may not be inappropriate to bring up the idea of getting rid of free speech. However, this ignores the fact that others who are not me, who could use the magic of words for good, would lose.
Therefore, the question is this: Is the good spoken enough to outweigh the bad?
If you say I fired six shots and I think I fired five, but I forgot in all the excitement.
I think free speech is 100% justified and required on the basis of wider political interaction rather than socio-political interaction between individuals or individual expression on a platform. While jerks might have made the concept of free speech lose uncool in context of their blogs or some shit, please understand that free speech is definitely not uncool and also constitutes something of a political safeguard.

Kel Valhaal is the name of the logical agency of faith and acephalic becoming in the The Ark Work, a gesamtkunstwerk which lives at the threshold between philosophical materialism and religion. It is also the moniker for the electronic project I’ve had going since 2010, though I’ve never done an official release until now. The aim of the project is to activate transcendental catharsis using the elements of sound design, and to gnaw on formal and cultural deadlocks between electronic music, rock, rap and classical music. Ultimately these are means of activating a creative-emotive state of divine intuition that is attuned to the object of ultimate concern: what the mystics call the “gift of tears”. “If Liturgy is a vehicle for grand rock albums, Kel Valhaal is more low key, more of an ongoing flicker;; less finely wrought, with more frequent and shorter releases, more variation, less consistency, more experimentation. “This music should be approached as one of three wings of a rotating vortex of music, thought and drama called The Perichoresis. Taking up the legacy of American Transcendentalism and German Romanticism with all its contradictory attraction and repulsion to/from underground music culture, the project has a horizon that is ethical, political, and eschatological. Kel Valhaal in part functions to ground Transcendental Qabala (a system of thought) as is also in part the manifestation of Aesthethics (an art practice). These three wings of the Perichoresis propel the ongoing drama of The Ark Work, which is a messianic intervention into global destiny.

I was thinking about that the other night, and yeah, TVT was a lot more sure of itself when it was essentially a bizarre collective art project and not an attempt at a Serious Reference.
The thing about a trope is that it is a trope: A recurring motif used as narrative shorthand across different works of art. TV Tropes is a catalogue of repeated ideas, patterns and trends, and of media wherein those things occur. To that end, it's useful, but it's not really built for analytical discourse.
i guess i feel like it suffers from an overemphasis on 'gotta trope em all' and an underemphasis on the historical aspect, which makes it unsuited to serious analysis
like, tropes are things that developed over time and are often very culturally specific, whereas TVT often seems to want to attribute to them some kind of platonic existence, as a consequence of which 1980s sitcom tropes manifest themselves in ancient Greek epics if you squint right
And I also have to wonder how much the various "why is this shitheap not a proper reference" snobs forced TVT into trying to be more formal. I know fandom arguments pretty much doomed natter, the Google made them clear out all the obscure fetish porn, and both of those things led them to finally get a CoC, but the amount of red tape that grew up around *just starting a page* has always surprised me.
(Of course, I wonder how many of them were actually snobs, and how many were trolling the mods simply because they weren't allowed to go around drawing dicks on everything.)
