Come on home. The poppies are all grown knee-deep by now. Blossoms all have fallen, and the pollen ruins the plow. Peonies nod in the breeze, and while they wetly bow with hydrocephalitic listlessness, ants mop up their brow.
Does the solution to the Monty Hall problem change if Monty himself doesn't know what's behind the doors, and he just opens one at random after you make your choice?
on the math discussion - the problem with giving mathematical explanations of the 0.99999 = 1 thing, ime, is not that they're too complicated (you can prove it with basic arithmetic), it's that people react like you just performed some sort of magic trick, and remain sceptical
so my boyfriend is losing his job, which makes my future in taiwan kinda, uh, uncertain. unless he finds another job in the next two weeks
at least i am having a nice day today. i cycled to the coast and today is just impossibly perfect, a tiny light wind, 22 degrees, no clouds at all in the sky

at least, that's how it was when i was at school
the "real" reason that 0.9repeating = 1 is that math set up such that it's true (i.e. Dedekind cuts or Cauchy sequences) is more consistent and useful than math set up such that it's false
'solder' is 'sodder' for me, and something that I resent the fact that I cannot do because having such an ability would prevent me from having to spend money on getting devices fixed

realize also that there is no singular American accent just as there is no singular English accent. I imagine Centy and I talk pretty differently and we live in states that border each other.

'sodder' definitely sounds off to me, more like an insult than anything else

I think they're slightly different.
I pronounce "solder" like "sodder", but "sod" is not a rude word in my dialect.

Or both.
Hmm... Considering the last meal I ate was over 12 hours ago... I'll say I'm hungry.
Because cat videos.
