i've noticed i don't seem to have watched or read many of the things other people did when they were kids.
i spent a lot of that time reading children's encyclopedias and books about dinosaurs, but i don't think that quite accounts for where the time went or how i managed to go my entire childhood without seeing The Lion King, for example.
as it turns out spending your entire childhood watching eyewitness videos and reading books but only books where the protagonists were animals or which are nonfiction means that you have a weird-ass reference pool

other sources of weird-ass reference pools: watching lots of HBO Family and Boomerang
Growing up in Canada and being subjected to a lot of Canadian Content™ gives me a weird reference pool, too.
On the bright side, it meant that I knew about the awesomeness of Phil Lord and Chris Miller before anyone else did, because Teletoon aired Clone High for literal years on end.
AYAOTD and SC were produced by Cinar and are now owned by DHX Media (as a result of its acquisition of Cinar's successor Cookie Jar), and Mack is owned by Sonar Entertainment (successor to its original owner RHI Entertainment)
