Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
if you did something, and you hurt someone, and did the thing again, and you hurt more people, and you kept doing the thing, and you kept hurting people
Well, that's one of my reasons for living that I have to remove from the list.
Actually, that's two in the last couple weeks, but only one of those is relevant to you internet people.
Summary: I'm angry and will sound extremely petulant if I try to explain what makes me angry, so y'all just have to take a cranky Aliroz for the next few days or weeks or decades. Well, more cranky than usual.

Poor strip workers. The syndicate gets all the money and overmerchandizes all your creations, and squeezes you into a tiny image size on the page so you have to compete with sudoku and dear abby. Unless you can manage to be a Watterson.

need to count all the times i see the phrase "with roguelike elements" when going through the steam discovery queue
lol I noticed this. It's like indie gaming now is all about "roguelike elements." Minecraft, Binding of Isaac, Risk of Rain, Nuclear Throne, who knows how many others. Real roguelikes are hardcore as fuck though, too much for me and way inaccessible to the average gamer. My waifu plays them a lot though!

oh i also forgot "hardcore" and "sandbox"
so yeah, indie games are just as susceptible to stupid buzzwording bingo
didn't play Sequence for more than an hour, good to know that decision was justified
well i mainly was annoyed by having to watch all threw screens and then switch between them all the time.
though the music also thus became reduced to two things: 1. a timer on how long yoi had to defeat the enemy 2. a gameplay convenience for timing button presses
maybe it would have been better if it had just, say, combined all three charts into one display would have been a lot less distracting than having to switch constantly

a lot of games shoot themselves in the foot with this.
Tons of people ended up not liking Sunless Sea because it wasn't really at all roguelikeish in even the most vague sense. Most of it isn't even procedurally generated.

ugh i was recently in an argument about the definition of "roguelike"
i was beginning to think that maybe i just dreamed it because it seemed to fantastically bad to be real and i couldnt remember the name or find it again

Are they at least BOOM anime babes that make you think the wrong thing?
it's miserable for the characters, and it's also miserable for me as the audience as long as those characters keep fighting each other foolishly and don't find some way to band together and beat up whoever forced them into this unwinnable situation in the first place

IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TAP IT ON A TOUCH SCREEN
I AM TIRED OF HITTING IT FIFTY TIMES JUST TO EDIT A POST AND END UP WITH TWENTY INSTANCES OF QUOTING MY OWN POST SAVED AS A DRAFT
I didn't enjoy Sequence.
It seemed like it had an interesting plot...but it was tacked onto very gimmicky gameplay, and said gameplay wasn't very intuitive anyway.
I appreciated the humor. I appreciated the innovation. But I just didn't enjoy it.

i can't be arsed to look up the video again
i don't get the appeal of stories where all the characters are just set up to get into fights with each other for the heck of it
"here's a zero sum game, you play it or you die"
that's not a fun story premise at all
it's a miserable one
