I'll be honest, it seemed like a DIC show to me on the surface
Ruby-Spears was basically "Hanna-Barbera but worse" (and this was when H-B was at or near their all time low), and other than the sound effects there's no H-B stuff there
oh god apparently when Robot Chicken parodied the show, Glomer was voiced by Tom Kane and not Frank Welker
I know Frank Welker is probably booked solid all the time but this is the man who doesn't consider it beneath him to reprise his roles as Dynomutt and Jabberjaw
Glomer must be REALLY shameful (though honestly Dynomutt and Jabberjaw seem A-tier next to him and have their own odd appeal anyway)

It is pretty depressing how the 1980s seemed to be a golden age of sorts for DIC
They're one of my least favorite animation studios ever, Gadget and AOSTH aside, but even if some of the stuff they did during this "golden age" is to me kind of unbearable, it's not nearly as much as the stuff they were churning out by the early 2000s
I imagine all the talented people had left by then and, as far as I can tell, DIC was bleeding money and would continue to do so until Cookie Jar mercy-killed the studio

Maybe the Space Ghost revival I'm having the Hanna-Barbera revival make can include them
I already want to put the Galaxy Trio in there
Does Hanna-Barbera have enough action heroes to do a Batman: The Brave and the Bold thing where it's all about Space Ghost teaming up with other heroes to fight evil?

Well, there's also Birdman, Mightor, and Young Samson, off the top of my head...
if memory serves, the Jetsons lived in some sort of Cloud City-like thing and we never saw the ground...did we? The earth could've disintegrated for all we knew
I think that, canonically, they live in Orbit City. The 1990 movie explained that the reason they live in the sky is because of all the pollution below, which is a way to take the magic out of it
But this does not account for the rest of the Hanna-Barberaverse (though The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and Scooby were always kind of detached from it, Scooby to a lesser degree)
to be honest I should probably watch more of Harvey Birdman
all I really remember about it is the episode where Apache Chief spilled coffee on himself and could no longer grow
but it does seem a bit derisive towards the H-B funny animal characters, which rubs me the wrong way because this sort of thing is the only thing they get used for anymore
WB doesn't want to do anything that actually respects them (or possibly the superheroes, for that matter)
i heard someone say that Space Ghost: Coast to Coast was the most influential U.S. television series of the last 20 years and I think they might be right

it is a great show (apart from the last year or so when the new showrunner tried way too fucking hard to be EDGY), and saying this makes me feel kind of guilty now >_>
I remember reading that article - it said the Hanna-Barbera stuff that populated CN in those days were "crusty old cartoons"
There does seem to be a perception that even the good H-B stuff (Huck, Quick Draw, Yogi, the Flintstones) was just junk, meant to keep the seats warm until better things could take their place
