Just spent half an hour trying to re-enable the wireless adapter because it shut itself off. Twice.
That tears it. It's one thing to return a laptop with a burnt-up battery. Thing wasn't standard-issue in the first place. But randomly shutting down and randomly turning off the wireless adapter, I can't deal with that. It's bad for making music, bad for writing anything, and bad for being a student in general. I'm buying a new laptop before the year is out, and ASUS is now on the no-buy list.
Good news is that, according to amazon, I can get something with similar specs to my current laptop (well, the specs that it had when it was new) for about 700 dollars. Probably 770 with shipping and warranty.
Now it's just a matter of picking which of the 4-star laptops to choose from.
I also did a bit of digging in my documents, and a couple of files were missing. I haven't poked around in those folders since before the laptop borked, so I'm also blaming this on ASUS repairs.
Also seems like laptop manufacturers are phasing out cd players. All of the affordable options are all "cut the cd drive to save space and lessen the weight".
Had to happen eventually, I suppose. The only thing I've used the disc player for in the last two years was installing Mass Effect 3, so it's not like it's going to be a big bother to me. Just nostalgia, I guess

I've usually seen that the lower-end options are generally pretty affordable AND come with optical drives. Just the super-thin/light varies that don't.
i like the new layout on mobile, i can actually see page numbers now instead of just 'older comments' and 'more comments' and scrolling through everything ever to see anything
