why am i failing so hard at what's supposed to be simple integration
I'm looking at the lyrics for "Chantilly Lace", and....yeah, it's pretty much 1958's "My Humps". Especially when the Bopper talks about spending money on her.

Damn it, now My Humps is stuck in my head for the first time in what is probably years.

things to do over the weekend:
- homework
- finding a place to hang a stop sign in my bedroom
Man, on rereading the first Harry Potter book, I had forgotten how much I adore that series.
Ah, my childhood.
(At least with the King's Shadow and The Westing Game it is just one book and not a whole series; but I kinda feel bad for all of you who never really "felt" Harry Potter like I did.)
Ali, stop passive-aggressively trying to guilt people into liking your overhyped children's fantasy.
Ali, pointing out the crud you do does not make it funny or cute. Knock it off. And guilt is a noun.
Ali, getting meta is so 2011.
Haven't I done this arguing-with-myself thing before?
Obvious flailing for attention is obvious.
Ali, don't write something here if you can't think of anything funny.
I find it frustrating how often being super intelligent seems to go hand-in-hand with being elitist. I am definitely thankful that is not universally true though.
I'm a little scared of how intertwined they seem to be in people's minds. My sense of humor kind of grew out of that, I think-- oftentimes I find myself combining high and lowbrow elements in conversation out of a desire to appeal to everyone.
I also tend to belittle myself, but that's a slightly different story.

I liked the series quite a bit. I can see its flaws, but it was fun and I liked a lot of the world-building.

it's kind of funny how people complain that TV is so vibrant right now that they can't possible keep up with it all, but the "Popular" tabs on nearly all TV sites are filled with stuff like Real Housewives
(not that those two claims are necessarily opposed)
