You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I associate Brøderbund with the Carmen Sandiego series, myself
Even the dumb obtuse ones make a certain amount of sense, really... that I can recall.
It never reaches Sierra levels of nonsense.
Like, to correctly do one puzzle in King's Quest 5, you have to randomly drop honey in front of you, then throw out jewels, then a gnome will get caught in the honey and will show you the way out of the enchanted forest.
If you accidentally throw the jewels first, the game becomes unwinnable and you have to restart from a previous save.

I mean, their magnum opus was King's Quest VI, and even that had Jollo, the court jester who talks like Snagglepuss and who you need to befriend to beat the game and a puzzle that depends on paying attention to a cutscene that doesn't even feature the protagonist.

On top of that, there's also the fact that Leisure Suit Larry would be quite a dubious proposition today, despite him being one of their main franchises back in the day.
Darn, Yarr, you got me to go back and reread the David Trilogy, and now I checked out the first book to find where the Blue Box managed to do that, and now I have to read the entire series and love it and have feels because book 54 was total feels.
I never read the epilogue books. They didn't have the first one in my library, and trying to read the others without context was pointless.
I also wanted to finish reading all the other books before I read the epilogue. I almost did. Just couldn't find that one book where Jake gets sick and Rachel has to lead the team.
Anyways, what was up with the South Park reference in 22? Also, the drunk president guy who is totally nonplussed at rhinos and elephants? I could read a whole book about that guy.
And yeeeeeesh, Saddler, I can't believe I had forgotten that.

They're kids in a book marketed to kids. A few pop culture references aren't out of place (though I was a bit surprised to find it there)
I have the distinct feeling that it was the Russian prime minister or the French premier. They'd be drunk enough, following the appropriate national stereotypes. I also want to say the Japanese PM, but I feel like Rachel wouldn't be the kind of person to recognize him at first glance.
Yes! I meant to add it as a stretch goal, but forgot! Let's say that we'll have at least four kinds and that one will be vegan! Thanks for the reminder!
today while talking with my mom I learned that some people pronounce "Xavier" as "ik-zay-vee-air"
I was incredulous to say the least
How else would you pronounce it?
I would say Eksayvee-err, because X is one of those consonants that shouldn't start words. Like ts, I can't pronounce that without a vowell before the t, or at least a vowell and a consonant, like Parts.
I've heard that x at the beginning at words is pronounced as " z", but I never remember that.
Like how "aa" is a vowell combination I cannot pronounce. It's one of those strange nonengliah vowells.

I mean, Harvester was clearly trying to say SOMETHING about media influence on reality, but fuck if I could tell what it is.

guns. Poems that wrestle cops into alleys
and take their weapons leaving them dead
Which is that it's bad? Good? Unimportant?

I mean, I knew Buffy the vampire slayer was a show, but David Letterman?
I probably missed at least two thirds of the references when I first read the animorphs books at age seven.
