Life without internet probably would've led to a more ignorant, more depressed and self-loathing Counterclock.
I know it's silly to say "The internet opened my eyes" But in truth, it kind of did, It allowed me to experience other people's thoughts and emotions.
Honestly, without the internet, I probably would have grown up to be a crazy, racist conservative. My grandparents who raised me were REALLY racist, since they were from the deep south. My town was really conservative and redneck, too. The kind of people who swear by Fox News and actually deride you if you try to use anywhere else as a source.
The Internet basically made me a not terrible person.
Without Internet, I would be more self-confident and less consumed by my inability to deal with people who disagree with me. I wouldn't have had those crippling self-esteem problems back in my late Tvt days, and I wouldn't have ever had to put up with certain forums where my religion is treated as some sort of disease. I'd probably be a lot more liberal, as many of my more conservative stances are essentially a backlash against the absurdly liberal internet.
But, I'd have never interacted with Odradek, Yarrun, Kexruct, Shichibukai, Bisected 8, Genis Sage, Nathaniel the Seeker, Ninety, Cata, or any of a ton of other people.
So screw that hypothetical life without internet. I'd take this one in a heartbeat; because you are my friends and the things that are wrong with my life can be fixed by the things that are right in my life.
So, yeah, I hate the internet, but love the people there.
