Sounds like someone needs to be sat down and told that the world doesn't revolve around them.

Naney really should get his act together and come back here to keep us entertained. >:(

P.S. Naney if you're reading this, I'm so bored I think I might actually read. I hope you're happy!

my thoughts: the real problem with music downloading, the one that will be hardest to tackle, is that now in a lot of places its socially expected that people know about a shit ton of music. like, far more than anyone except the richest dudes would be able to buy. everyone has 700 artists in their last.fm these days. how do you reconcile the new expectations of music fans' knowledge with giving the artists enough money to continue producing their music?

well what its moving towards is you have everyone using streaming services like spotify to let them discover and sample this huge range of music, and artists make shit all out of it. and then they have to hope that they pick up a real rabid hardcore fanbase who will bbuy CDs, vinyls, go to shows, buy merch etc. just because they love the band. thats where artists will make money i think. in a sense its sad, but it allows bands like Kayo Dot who have a relatively very small following, but one that really loves what they do, to continue recording without labels and stuff..... the tiny bands doing unique relatively niche things can carve out a little niche like that. it's not like its easy though

This is absolutely true. I hadn't really thought of it before, but that is right on the money. Thank you.
    this is right on-point

She's bigoted against the religious, and she doesn't like the idea of religion in general, especially monotheistic religions. She's also a bit of an angry feminist sometimes, and is sometimes much more sympathetic to female characters than male. Also, she has shades of the Social Justice thing with her rants about privilege; but she's very clever, silly, lovable, and a bit adorkable.

I don't like the idea of organised religion, but I have nothing against religious people at large or against taking that path so long as you are kind and fair to others. The same applies to the irreligious, of course: If you do not believe or dislike religion, be fair about it and do not mistreat others for disagreeing with you. Likewise, angry feminists have good reason to be angry feminists; it's only when they go into full-on windmill tilting and hypocrisy that I become annoyed.

In the long run, being an honor roll student isn't exactly going to help much.

It MAY help get a college scholarship and good grades can mean some of your tuition is payed for by the school, but it's not exactly going to come into play once one is in the working world.
Well, I don't feel fulfilled in classes that aren't honors.

And I care a lot more about feeling fulfilled than having a good job.

Also I tend to do worse in lower classes anyway.

Parents want me to socially interact. Heck no. There is a limited amount of skill any one person can have, and every social skill detracts from my imagination, creativity, and ability to make art. Every nuance I understand makes me a worse person at everything.

Besides, socializing is naught but lying, deception, and insincerity; in addition to small talk.

But at this rate, I'll be a completely social neurotypical with no imagination; all generic and crap.

Also, do I fling unexpected outings that take all evening on other people? Do I tug on my Mom's clothes and try to make her look presentable? Do I touch her scalp to get her attention?

I know my parents love me and only want the best for me. That's the problem. I wish they didn't care about making me happy and successful; and just indulged me and never made me try new things or go out of my shell or exit my comfort zone.

You know, taking someone out of his or her comfort zone is seriously unpleasant. For normal people, imagine being kidnapped.

firstly, some of the most creative people i know - and for that matter some of the most creative people ever - have been very sociable people. in fact understanding other people usually helps you create better art. in literature, for instance, a grasp on socialisation and its nuances will help you no end with writing any kind of book... and poetry too (poetry isn't all wandering alone in fields of daffodils, y'know.) take a look at Gertrude Stein. brilliantly creative, thoroughly unconventional and uncompromising - and the focal point of he whole Parisian social scene. i'd hardly call her 'neurotypical' but she was famous for her social gatherings.

secondly, going out of your comfort zone is uncomfortable, but in a lot of cases it's the only way you can grow as a person. it doesn't feel great at the time, but later? you will be glad you did it.

  • thirdly, sometimes you get watermelon.

I know, I've actually enjoyed this outing. I just was upset on the way there.

I know that gaining social skills does not mean conforming or losing any other skills.

Funny how the anxiety of something is always way worse than the actual thing.

Still, I do find it uncomfortable to be taken out of my comfort zone, though the rewards are more than worth the discomfort.

    Triple post.
  • i need it to get cooler later this evening so i can wear my new clothes
  • my new clothes update: i found a really really natty red blazer which fitted me super perfect and the sale rail said it was down from £100 to £25 and i took it to the counter and they then told me it was £40 and i couldnt justify spending that much on a bright red blazer with my current money levels

but then i found a cool hoodie which was XXS but somehow still fit me which said it was £32 down to £18 and when i took it to the counter they sold it to me for £6??? thats some win
