I briefly considered making calcoins a real thing in tandem with this update. I asked somebody how bitcoins worked, and the absolute worst case scenario happened. Bitcoins were explained to me.
ok i gotta get something off my chest here. cronus. i don't get cronus. i don't get some people's reaction to cronus. it is a fucking mystery of human psychology to me. it is more mysterious than moravec's paradox or whateverthefuck actual psychology thing. yelling at people poorer than you? sure. harry potter weasely unbirthing incest porn? sure. cronus? no fucking clue.
i mean people like him. not "as a character" or whatever, they're like hey this is a cool guy. i don't understand how anybody could think this. it does not fit any model of human psychology i have constructed.
who is cronus. he's one of like ninety characters introduced entirely to mock people on the internet (tumblr). exposition on his personality and history is mostly carried about in an entirely ignorable and boring exposition sequence by aranea. he is as well characterized as the steampunk horse dong guy.
he has dialogue. in that dialogue he threatens a retarded man for racist and ableist reasons while telling him his girlfriend doesn't like him, and then hits on him anyway. he is called disgusting by most of the characters who interact with him, including his whatever-cestor, whatever-cestors in all other cases being weirdly enamored in one-on-one interactions.
there's nothing to latch on to. what is there to like? what is there to anything? like fuck, i don't know. remember tvtropes? this is driving me to tvtropes. there was that 'draco in leather pants' thing. i don't remember shit about draco. but people liked snape, right? and snape was a douche, but he did something positive or whatever, he had a crush on whatshername and probably didn't murder anybody for the sake of that crush. cronus don't have that. cronus don't have anything. dude's two paragraphs of horrible douchiness written in purple.
is it because he's a greaser? is that a thing? he's a mockery of people who identify as centaurs or whatever. he doesn't understand anything about the humans he professes to be. is that it? i guess that's kind of cutely ignorant for the one sentence it exists in.
like is that the whole basis of people liking him? it's some kind of programmed response, supernormal stimulus? "oh, this character is an evil douche, but affects being sad so i will devote a 'fandom' to him." like a learned fucking response from other characters like snape or whoever that are like that, except that cronus has been shaved down to bare essentials and has no redeeming traits whatsoever, unlike those other characters?
like seriously out of the 4 or 5 cronus fans i ever met at least 3 of them were emotionally manipulative, abusive and self-pitying. to use a cliche they were mad, bad and dangerous to know.

Maybe it's a purely visual thing? People decide they want to cosplay him or draw him or whatever, and then get upset when reminded what he's actually like?
That's just a guess, I haven't really encountered anyone who's that passionate about him.
well, i mean, he is pretty much the most horrible person in the comic so far. caliborn's an asshole but in a reddit way we're used to making fun of. cronus is like hey i'd totally be a literal nazi if i could
Cronus is like one of those sleazy, grotty dudes trying to pick up underaged out-of-towners (gender irrelevant here) outside of this one nightclub in a really seedy part of town. He's funny, but in a "hehehe... eww..." kind of way.
That said, there is something deeply pathetic about him that I guess some people are drawn to. He's dreadful, but his dreadfulness is mostly impotent and irritating.
Aspects of Cronus remind me of a couple people I despise, mostly in that "creepy dude who invades others' personal space and then gets upset when they don't like it" way.
The entire session was not only destroyed, but dissolved into artifact dust, and it looks like they may be headed back to the Furthest Ring. Timeline shenanigans for sure.
