Actually not as bad as you might think, once you get used to the water physics.

This is definitely how you're supposed to play the game, right?

Falling through cracks in reality with the assistance of Skulltulas really does a number on your wellbeing.

But yes, this is proof that water levels are, in fact, good:

    Amazing.

"the first half hour is just cut scenes" is reason to toss any game in the garbage bin, let's be honest

    I'd rather like to see more well-done jump scares in my horror games, because at least then I feel the flinching is earned, or whatever. >_>;
  • Okay, so updating my driver for my Video card fixed the issue I had with Scholar of the First Sin,

@Jane: Since you said you had the same problem, here's the guide I used to fix this issue, in case you're interested.

  • I have an onboard graphics chip, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't work.

I'll try sometime I guess but I don't have a controller atm anyway.

But then I would not have played MGS4, which is a fantastic game when it's deciding to be a game.

For reals, though, it's definitely super indulgent.

  • My dreams exceed my real life
In the course of my career as a vidcon specialist (my own coinage, spend it wisely), I have never seen such blatant and frankly, sickening ignorance as that exhibited by the "people" (if, in fact, they are homo sapiens at all, as their intelligence implies elsewise) that claim that Zelda is not an RPG. There is nothing that Shigeru "Shiggy" Miyamoto could possibly do to make the vidcon any more of an RPG as it meets every single criterion for being one, particularly that it takes place in an imaginary realm with a fantastical beastiary, the damsel/villain ratio is at or above standards, and that the core emphasis of the gameplay is on bedazzling all foes with impeccable swords and sorcery. Furthermore, this line of thought can be extended to all vidcons in which the player controls a character (hence, roleplaying), though I cringe slightly at the thought of such mundane vidcons as Madden being RPGs, as they do not even include exotic weaponry such as the tonfa.

Not sure what Fossilmaiden is doing, exactly, but using cheats I've completely broken the sequence of Oot before. Skipped the whole "child" part of the spirit temple and done it as an adult, that sorta thing. None of the cutscenes or anything break.

I am going through the game without a sword or shield, whilst skipping as few dungeons as possible. (Since you can beat the entire game without doing a single dungeon, so.)
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    Well that's pretty ambitious.

I know you can do the entire first game without a sword, except for Ganon.

god dammit just save my game already
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
Madden would be better with the tonfa.
  • that's wrong

you need at least two tonfas to improve Madden, not just one
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
two tonfas, a katana, and Din's Fire.
  • Gastly's current moveset:

    Hypnosis
Lick (to be replaced by Night Shade later)
    Spite
    Mean Look

Which one should be forgotten to learn Curse?

I'm playing a single-player Gen 2 game with the aim of catching all the mons.
  • Munch munch, chomp chomp...
None of them because Curse saps your health all while guaranteeing their death in four turns. Hypnosis is fine because it's a status effect move which is always great. Lick/Night Shade you already know. Spite may not be the most useful, but it can run them out of PP for troublesome moves. Mean Look is only useful for the fleeing legends, and because of that I'd get rid of it first for a more practical medium-term move (plus Umbreon and/or Crobat can learn it instead, former being good for catching the mons), before putting it back.
  • I've heard that Mean Look + Curse is a nice combo, though it isn't hugely helpful with catching mons.  I guess I'll just ignore Curse.
  • Munch munch, chomp chomp...
    Pretty much yeah.
  • Curse was how my poor underleveled Golurk still made a contribution to beating the Elite Four.

Mean Look + Curse is only good if you can assure a ghost with paper-thin defenses and lots of weaknesses can survive five turns with half HP.

In other words, borderline useless for anything but bringing down a gym leader's final.
  • Master Quest mission: don't get hit!

    >> Rewards require Wizzro
    >> Mission is full of Aeralfos
    >> Bosses are Wizzro and Ruto

god dammit this game knows no bounds for its hatred of the player
  • My dreams exceed my real life

How does one beat Ornstein and Smough

1: Use the pillars to kite and separate them

2: Take down Ornstein first. Don't bother hitting Smough because he's going to get all his health back in phase 2

3: Once you hit phase 2, don't get hit by Smough's hammer

Does Curse stay in force if the cursing mon switches out or is knocked out?  I thought it does.

Though yeah, it seems like as fun as Curse is I won't be using it much.

EDIT: I read that wrong. Yes.
  • Munch munch, chomp chomp...
It stays until the cursed mon faints or switches.
  • image Wee yea erra chs hymmnos mea.
It's kinda funny how non-ghost Curse is so much more dangerous than ghost curse.
  • image Wee yea erra chs hymmnos mea.
If the user is not already Ghost-type and becomes Ghost-type due to Protean upon executing Curse, the user will use the Ghost-type Curse on itself.
    Rude.

what a horrible night to have a curse

Yeah regular Curse is actually really good as long as you can tank hits (and in Mystery Dungeon it's amazing).  Ghost Curse probably would be too if ghosts weren't almost universally walking glass jaws, but as is it's basically a shittier Perish Song.
