    She's a cute lady.

Also, I guess we can just call them the Wachowski Sisters now? It is factually accurate.
Does that make them a pair of transistors?
    ...you scamp.

I'm gonna Undertale with the sis now.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
I went to Universal Studios today, and rode the Simpsons ride, the Minion ride, the Harry Potter ride, the Jurassic Park ride, and the Mummy ride
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
I have a cap that sez "I survived Jurassic Park The Ride" but that's a lie, I never went on it
  • My dreams exceed my real life
It was a pretty good ride.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I went to Universal Studios Florida in 2005, but didn't ride anything :x

    is Universal Studios Hollywood fun?

    Yes

Some of the rides get samey

Cloud Atlas was a movie entirely about things like gender, race, and identity itself being fluid amongst the characters, so I'm surprised people didn't bring up one(now two) of the directors being transgendered more often.

wasn't that bad (though the warning made me decide not to simply google, for which i'm grateful)

e: actually i seem weirdly desensitized to gruesome medical imagery?  i used to be super squeamish

i made a jokey reply on twitter to several phds in a conversation including one person i've actually been at a seminar of, so i need a second
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
    You know what's really annoying?

When someone forwards you an email and it's got a chain of replies and you can't tell if you're supposed to read them top-to-bottom or bottom-to-top.

Also this post ended up in Comic Sans somehow? That amuses me enough that I'm keeping it that way. MEAT

One day I will write a thinkpiece about how hatred of the so-called "middlebrow" is the worst form of snobbery
  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
    The hell is the middlebrow?
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    neither highbrow nor lowbrow

    just...in the middle

Okay but what are the markers for this sort of thing? What is an example of middlebrow?

Because my own compass is weird and I think of everything to be more-or-less reducible to lowbrow.

    middlebrow is like

    movies that win Oscars

    Jonathan Franzen novels

    The Decemberists

i'm cramming for neuroanatomy and the subject of CSF comes up a lot

you know how if you look at a brain from the middle there's kind of a weird looking area under the cortex, in the middle

    image

if you're like me you figure important since it's in the middle but it's actually just a bag of CSF

    It totally is.

People feel snobby being above the lowbrow and dumb being below the highbrow but they feel comfortable being above the middlebrow.

Which is wrong because everyone is middlebrow

  • also "solder" is pronounced "sodder" here, despite the fact that i think it OUGHT to be pronounced "soul durr"

meanwhile, "soldier" is pronounced "soul jurr"
  • edited 2016-03-09 17:16:39
also i maintain that "tr" is pronounced like "ch" + "r"
and "dr" is pronounced like "j" + "r"

    rather than actually being "t" + "r" and "d" + "r" respectively
