I know lots of people who don't know how to drive stick...myself included.
In America, at least in most states, there's no difference in licensing between a manual and automatic transmission, so even if you pass your driving test in an automatic you're allowed to drive both.

See, my problem was that the only manual-transmission car I had access to while I was learning to drive was my dad's old Geo Prizm...which had a faulty clutch and was almost impossible to drive unless you'd become accustomed to its quirks.
So I learned to drive in my mother's automatic Suzuki XL7 instead.
I can remember all the basics, like accelerating, breaking, changing gears and all that shit. What I will have forgotten is the manoeuvres, like a parallel park.

I asked in the SA traffic thread how much it would cost to replace a sign bridge like that.
Cichlidae, a Connecticut traffic engineer, answered: "The old ones were a quarter million bucks. We went to a new (less robust) design that only costs $80k."
So...yeah, that's quite a lot of money, not even counting what that guy did to the truck itself.

When Anonus and I went to Raising Cane's a couple weekends ago I parked at a meter and got out some change to feed in it...only to find there was already 1:07 left on the meter from the previous driver.
I wanted to be friendly and put my change into someone else's meter instead but nobody in that row was actually parked at an expired one, surprisingly.

It occurred to me the other day that I like the Sims for much the same reason that I liked playing with dollhouses as a little kid
