Ah, there's nothing like looking up videos of old computers on YouTube:

(And yes, despite the model number, that drive is an IBM, specifically IBM Japan Ltd.)

Also, this machine is pushing 30, but it can still output VGA -- which is itself turning 25 this year. Amazing.

...and now I crave Sonic. Not the hedgehog, the drive-in chain. Hell, Aurora in general.

I keep thinking of Sonic as "new" for my area, even though they've been in Columbus for 6 or 7 years now.

Their first location around here (as far as I know) was the one on East Main Street in Whitehall, in front of the Wal-Mart Supercenter built around the same time.

I first went to one (can't remember where it was) in 2000. I associate this with a commercial or something that aired during one of KDVR's airings of The Simpsons and Mother saying "that doesn't look like the news" or something. And KUSA's Adele Arakawa saying that a local boy was going to go to prison (which sounded like "prism" to me at the time) for shooting and killing his teacher, I think.

    ...god. I ramble so much.

I like it when you ramble.

Also for some reason I can't remember many specific things that happened in 2000.

We have a few Sonics in the Portland Metropolitan area.

Sadly, none close enough that I get food from their all that frequently.

When I was younger and a huge Sonic the Hedgehog fan, Sonics just showed up on commercials and I was so envious that there wasn't one by me.

Little did I know it was really just fancy hot-dogs and Slushies with a bunch of syrups for different flavors.

Still sucks that the town I lived in a suburb of now has a Sonics long AFTER I moved away.

It's like my childhood is being mocked.

My first one was Sonic Advance, which I got in 2002.

Sometimes being a fan of the franchise makes me feel like I must be some kind of masochist or cheeseball.

I love that there was a period in gaming history where you didn't need to have a clue as to what you where doing to release a console.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I once wondered what the Atari Jaguar's successor would have been called were it to be released.

...who ever played some Jag, AVGN aside?

So I noticed something weird going on with one of Justice's posts, so I went to edit it and then clicked cancel and then this happened.

Dude, the Genesis Sonic games are fucking fantastic.

    People should all play them.

And if you haven't, motherfucking Rocket Knight Adventures. That's Genesis gold, my friends.

Yeah, I kinda gave up on that post.
