It's random I found. Save & Reload and it will randomly appear in his inventory. Or just carry a weapon repair kit if you can get him to a point where you shoot it out of his hand. Try beating a guard to death, take his gun, take some Steady and snipe the gun from his hand, and then grab it, repair it, and then plug him.

I see. I'll do that next time I play through the game. Though I never have to worry about losing my guns in the Tops. I just talk to swank (I think that's his name) and give him all the evidence about Benny and Voila!. I have my guns again.
I also think if you fail to kill him in the Tops, you could play a little further through the story and find him again, this time him without his armed guards, and you with your weapons.

I decided to take on the Fort with only ED-E, some shoddy Combat Armor and nothing more powerful than That Gun and the Mysterious Magnum.
Praetorian Guards should not be able to absorb so many bullets to the head. That should not be a thing. You jerks don't even have helmets, how are you not dead yet.

That sounds like a hell of challenge. I always go to the fort with ED-E and Boone, except on Hardcore mode, because of the whole your companions can actually die thing. Hell Praetorian guards soak up a lot of bullets regardless, unless you're the Survivalist's rifle (which is possible my favorite gun in the entire game).

I don't mean to be grim or anything, but for those who have checked the mundane photos thread: is it weird that I wasn't very uncomfortable in that theater?
It's not realistic to survive a Light Machine Gun volley to the face, but it would be boring if I could steam-roll everyone with just a 308 Hollow Point shot to the head (realistically no human can survive that, or any Hollow Point playing Merry-go-round with their brains). Considering VATS makes headshots so easy, it's up to that one thing....disbelief suspensionism or whatever.

No, it's not like you are required to feel uncomfortable or sad.Shooting was tragic, but not as tragic for you as it was other people. It's not like somebody is going to scrutinize you for your lack of melancholy for the area.
The towns people don't do shit. Take Trudy for example. She never sells anything new. Sunny Smiles NEVER patrols the area. Easy Pete never prospects, or collects water.
