I also think it's amazing that people frequently complain about the alleged abundance of pedophiles on the site, and yet, despite being the only pedophile I can think of who's ever been open about it on TVT, no one ever mentions that about him.

I will totally admit that DYRE does not stick out in my mind as much of a presence.

Also, I get all the people with allcaps names other than SPACETRAVEL! mixed up. Granted there's only like...three, but still.

Either way, I don't think there were that many actual pedos on the site. Troper Tales made it look like there were far more creeps posting regularly. Most of the people that have made OTC look bad are people advocating violence or simply hijacking threads with whatever agenda they cling to.

Prone to drama, certainly. But I can recall raging far more often at OTC things.

Super: Yeah. Back in the day, it was pretty much the only decent news aggregator around, and IIRC they had a bit of a rivalry with GBS. Nowadays, I don't think anyone cares anymore (they all went to Digg and Reddit, lol).

As for political bents, OTC's problem isn't so much being liberal or conservative as that some of the worst examples of both hang out there. You have hardline anarcho-socialists trying to have a peaceful conversation with American and European moderates and American neo-con and Far Right types, and the end result is, well, just plug "huge explosions" into YouTube and you'll get the point.

I know this is the internet, and that it isn't a formal debate, but you think people would, y'know, defend their arguments, not make fallacious arguments, and actualy try to find holes in the other side's arguments not just go LOL UR WRONG.

Actually, I don't see what's wrong with arguing in order to assert your opinion. It's when you're arguing just to assert your opinion that there is a problem.

DYRE only ever liked lolicon, from what I understand. And he seems to keep that shit under control. As for evilneko...that's another story. Or at least, she was quite vocal about it, to the point of being annoying as all hell about it

Or just step down. I'd prefer for the forums to remain, personally, if only because I feel there should be a space for media discussion in a site about media. With that said, I really really really wish they were better moderated and administrated. By which I mean, get a better admin or just accept that the times have changed.

Obviously, there are a shitton of places where you can discuss media, FourChan and SA being the most prominent, of course.

Admittedly, Fourchan can be abother if only because you have to find the good discussions in between all the trolling and tripfags and SA has the whole "Pay ten bucks to talk to elitist assholes and smart, mature and intelligent people, but mostly the first" thing against it.

But to be honest, every forum has pros and cons and I can't fault anyone for remaning at TvT. I mean, sure, the place has a shitty administrator, but it has...a...not entirely bad userbase. Sometimes.

So. I've started to miss TVT lately.

I'd try to get my ban appealed if I thought it'd do anything. I don't really want to post in most of the site, but I have an RP or two I'd really like to re-join.

It's my own fault, obviously. But it's still quite depressing.

Also, I checked out of curiosity's sake. This is apparently the last unthumped post I made on TVT.

Sums my time up there pretty well.
