^^ Not very long if you go to a library, or a place where people you think would like the same things as you would congregate. Hell I've found most of my lovefriends at the library, completely by accident.
Even used video game stores.
The key thing is knowing when somebody doesn't mind talking. Sometimes people don't want to be talked to, and it's best not to bug them then. If they are slinking around, avoiding eye contact, keeping their limbs extremely close to their bodies or something relative, it's best to give them space.
