You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
That is perfect in every way.
I like the Little Golden Books pattern but with Steven.

my headcanon is that amethyst used to have a potty mouth but toned it down once steven moved in with them

Man, being mentally a child would make her more likely to think swearing is cool, not less! :P

It also kinda gives you an idea of how much of Peridot's Peridot-ness comes from Shelby Rabara's delivery.

That works on a couple different levels, I like it

I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
How many gems were Crystal Gems anyway? I'm wondering how much of the Cluster is comprised of Crystal Gem shards that aren't in the possession of the remaining members of the group (and were apparently dug up after being buried), and how much is comprised of gems that were grown and then crushed specifically to be part of it.
I'd be surprised if the latter happened, just because growing gems seems to be long and resource-intensive, but there are probably lots of casualties of the Homeworld side of the war mixed in there too.

This is my guess too.
Homeworld seems to view gems as means to an end; if you're no longer useful as a warrior, you become part of the Cluster. They don't seem to value life for its own sake the way the Crystal Gems do.
The weird thing is that the third game clarified Seattle as actually Seattle, so it wasn't entirely internally consistent with its renaming of real-world locations but w/e off topic
So two more episodes came out early (I think they aired in Canada or something). The first was 11 minutes of "I just don't understand why you won't instantly be friends with this person who jailed and interrogated you, especially after you were just freed from months of constant torture!" So uh...didn't really care for that.
The second definitely knocked it out of the park though.
Based on the "cartoonnetwork.fr" logo that popped up halfway through I assume it was France where they aired.
Anyway, I watched them because I couldn't stop myself. Spoilerblocking the rest of this because it was easier than figuring out which bits to black out.

On the plus side, it lead to some pretty good reaction images.
But yeah, I definitely see where you're coming from. I mean, to be fair "wants everyone to be friends even when there's good reasons that can't happen" is well-established as one of Steven's personality traits, but normally Garnet or Pearl would call him on it and tell him to leave her alone. I think it would've been better if that happened, even if the ending was the same.
Given that Peridot got basically a whole week of getting to know the team, it feels like they went fast with Lapis. The next episode pretty much shows her as part of the team, if a little reluctantly. I guess making that comparison is a little unfair before seeing what her role is in the next few episodes, though.
