I'm well and truly confused, partially because it's been so long that I've forgotten a lot of details, and also because I'm pretty sure a lot of things happened there.
It's really satisfying to see Caliborn realise that he can't hold his own in a direct confrontation with a competent opponent without pulling something—and that his petty horribleness can have dangerous consequences.
So, the mouse Caiborn reaches for in the last few seconds. As anyone who hasa mouse like that is awware, the button on the side takes you back one page.
The button on the right side takes you one page forward.
The reason it has two buttons is so left handed people can switch the settings so their thumb is on the "go back" button.
Your pinky and fourth finger go on the forward button. Your thumb goes on the back button.
THe computer mice with these specific buttons are usually made by Logitech. Caliborn's mouse has the logitech logo, and, assuming he is right handed or has his mouse set to the right-hand settings, it is one page back.
Otherwise, it is one page forward.
(You can set the side buttons to other things, but back and forward are what they come set as.)
Now.... with which hand did Caliborn instinctively reach for the mouse with, hmmmm?
"Now you will only have to wait a week to see what happens next. I will say this much. It sure is a bunch of stuff that happens. The regular update engine lurches back to life on 11/1.
But as of typing this, by my watch, 10/25 isn't over yet, and technically neither is the update day. Hmm."
i don't know. death is a concept. remember that line where rose says the point of the game is to see how many qualifiers it can make you stack on 'self' and have it make sense? same with death

There have been four Jacks that we have met so far: Spades Slick, the Sovereign Slayer/Bec Noir, the one that Caliborn possessed, and the one in the Cals' session.
I think the last one is dead. The rest are quite active.
Man, I dunno if I'm up for a reread. Homestuck dominated my life like two years ago and reentering that mindset makes me really uncomfortable and nostalgic and gross.
Then divorce it from that mindset. Enter the story as if it were completely new to you. You are reading it as you are now, not as the person you were two years ago.
Now, I'mma go finish Problem Sleuth again and then take on Homestuck again like a boss. You should, too. We could do, like, friendly competing liveblogs. Because I am reactivating that liveblog. You better believe it.

Back or forward?

The world is burning down
that's not a song i've thought of in some time and it doesn't fit the situation much but still

The inventory stuff is fascinating, and so is the sburb interface with reality.
