fifa sucks, the world cup is a giant corporate handjob, brazils preparations forthis world cup have been more concerned w/ handing fifa loads of money that should have been spent on schools/hospitals/not shooting homeless people dead in the streets, so i dont give thecorrupt bastards any money and stream all the matches illegally ftw
The way I see it this is similar to the situation with China during the Olympics; in both cases I feel it's a major sporting event and the athletes aren't to blame for corrupt organizers or violent governments. FIFA won't be getting my money but I don't see any harm in watching the matches.
Of course you're not the only one who thinks it's unethical. It takes a heck of a lot to make Brazilians protest football.
interesting world cup news: my student unions nightclub, tonight, is dedicating one room to showing england vs italy (in a nightclub??!) and is dedicating their other room to a LGBT night. im just going to stand awkwardly in the doorway between them the whole time
There's one official called the referree who is ultimately in charge, but there's the two linesmen who are assistant referrees, and there's the 'fourth official' who is, uh, the fourth official
i watched a good deal of england vs italy and we were about as good as i was hoping we were going to be. i reckon we should get out of the group ---if--- we don't slip up against uruguay or CR. that is a big if though because uruguay are not a bad team and cr have shown they are no pushovers either. just depends on us not having a massive off day (lol) sterling in particular is looking really promising out there in the centre though, good call by Woy to stick him there
i have been busy today so havent seen any of the games but it sounds like theres more terrible offside calls going on in the ecuador game. this is becoming a theme

Very pretty little goal by Armero.
then you can update people in the LGBT night on the score
He's going to have his work cut out if he hopes to turn this one around.
That kind of sportsmanship is refreshing to see.
Solid penalty from Cavani.
This is a twist.
And here's the red card.
Beautiful goal by Sturridge.
That was a tense first half. Italy are looking formidable. Very patient, very clever, very dangerous.

Did I miss anything of note?
Score's one all. Switzerland equalized barely a minute into the second half.
This hasn't been the most exciting game. It picked up a bit in the second half once Switzerland started to get their act together.
I was expecting this to end one all, but that was class.
And that somersault! Wow.
"He's had to make these fouls, really." Shut up, commentator.
And a last minute goal by Karim Benzema. 1-0 to France.
What is all this confusion? The ball was still in play when the goalie knocked it over the line. Own goal. Nothing controversial about it.
It went over the line. We saw it went over the line. How is this difficult.
Benzema has been fantastic this match.
Less than three minutes in and an own goal by Kolasinac puts Argentina into the lead.
