* character art: seems pretty good in my opinion. * character design: probably rather meh. standard anime fantasy problems of overwrought details and I've seen a bit of unsensibly revealing female clothing. * music: probably decent since Yuki Kajiura worked on it, though it's not a guarantee that it's musical gold. * plot: i hear that it's somewhere between okay and riddled with problems of characterization, but i haven't watched it yet so I can't say. * setting: seems kinda dumb, but i can't speak on the execution.
Point number 3 in the OP puts them in the same sentence.
In any case, Legend of the Galactic Heroes is sort of the go-to example of 'good anime', while Sword Art Online is one of a handful of go-to examples for 'pleb anime' or something that's popular for reasons other than being good. (It shares that category with Naruto, and maybe Bleach.)
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
It's a common misconception that if Santa Claus exists, Mrs. Claus must exist too.
But there have, naturally, been several gay Santas throughout the history of the title.

One time I sent VTK (one of my roadgeek buddies) a picture of Kid Vid and said "Is this you??"
YA CAN'T CALL A KID 'WHEELS' JUST 'CAUSE HE'S IN A WHEELCHAIR ANY MORE THAN YOU CAN'T NOT CALL A KID WITH LEAD/TUNGSTEN-ALLOY CHOMPERS 'JAWS' CAN I GET A GOOD GOD DAMN

his favourite things about it are the music and the setting, i believe
both are pretty heavily flawed, though the worst of Naruto is post-timeskip which i've mostly avoided
Bleach just started with a good premise and got tedious
there are certainly plenty of better action series
Worldbuilding may be easy to be interesting. This is not a bad thing at all.
That sounds icky.

i'm quite fond of the setting of Fairy Tail, while we're on the subject of popular-but-not-the-greatest anime
but i can't remember where from
it's something food related i think
