From what I've heard, the showrunners were already fans of Doctor Who before the bronies took notice of Time Turner. So the Who references are just as likely to be the showrunners' own geekery (akin to those The Big Lebowski pony cameos) rather than pandering to the bronies.

I think some people greatly overestimate how much influence the bronies have over the show.

Honestly, after having been in the Animaniacs fandom, hanging out with furries at their c. 2000 peak of uncoolness, and having lurked on fandom_wank in the past, I've gotten pretty good at ignoring stupid fandom crap. I still get bothered when people threaten assault or harassment on "crazy" fans, but I haven't seen that sort of thing in a while.

Now that you mention it, those joints in that picture really do look varnished and shiny.

Also, the tail just looks awkward, as if it's coming out of her elbow or her bag.

I like the colors, they're fun to look at. I like how the hair of the tail and the head are drawn, and I've seen worse anime/chibi style faces.

The angle of the wings looks strange. Why are the wings drawn as if we were looking at them straight-on when Derpy is at a more 3/4-like pose?

The shading on the shirt is good; and I really like drawings that include hats.

I don't know why a person with yellow hair would have black eyebrows, or why eyebrows are drawn over hair.

Just saw the new episode.

Eh. Would've enjoyed it more if Dash's getting in the way phase lasted about a third as long as it did, and her saving the world phase was more than pulling Daring Do out of a trap she might well have managed herself and lifting a giant hula hoop. I seriously expected her to say "lemme at em, I'll splat em."

Though it was funny to see her and Twilight dueling with their nerdboners.

He was very close friends with J.R.R. Tolkien, who despite the endless analysis of his work despised allegory; Tolkien actually told Lewis on several occasions that he thought his ideas in his novels were great, but his excessive moralising really let him down.
