maybe this will lose some of its impact on its own rather than as an album closer. scratch that, it will lose some of its impact. but damn this is some good dub techno
I love how they managed to choose one of the most "normal" Jandek songs for their representative sample on the New Weird America page and it still sounds like the most demented thing there. Which, this being Jandek, is the absolute truth.
^^ I'm guessing search algorithms, given what the note at the bottom says.
"Avantgarde metal" is a bit of a hodgepodge as well, to my dismay, although the tiny, tiny appearance of Harvey Milk reminded me that said band existed, which made me happy.
This is supposed to be the "cheery closer" to the album. Hence a bit out of character. But still. This album. I love this album.
Listening to Talking Heads' Naked this week, I realized two things. First, I actually paid attention to the lyrics of "Mommy Daddy You and I" and realized it's about a Mexican family immigrating to the US. Second, as a direct consequence of the first point, I want to hear Calexico do a cover version.
Also, that Run The Jewels clip sounds fairly intriguing.
"Hottest MC", Danny complaining about MTV's ridiculous Hottest MCs In The Game List (made in a world where Big Sean is a better artist than Kanye West, apparently).
as for RTJ, El-P and Mike work very well together, even if I don't like Mike nearly as much as I do El.
official lyric video for The Uncluded's "TV on 10" is out.
if that alone doesn't inspire you to watch, Anthony Fantano likes it (he's in the comments somewhere). Which doesn't matter to me very much but I suspect some people might find that a persuading factor.
pretend i put a link to 'Nye tider' by Sume here, because Sume are my favourite band from greenland (yes, Greenland produced a pretty fuckin good classic prog band)
Four tracks into You Have Already Gone to the Other World and it's already shaping up to be something special. Perhaps even something special by A Hawk And A Hacksaw's standards.
^^^ He reviewed the album recently. Really liked it. Singled out that song as a highlight. Hearing it, I can see why it would appeal to him (and you, for different reasons). Still not sure how I feel about Aesop Rock's voice itself—never have been—but his flow and lyrical twists are quite nice, and Kimya Dawson sounds great there. Great backing as well. Might listen to the rest of the album later.
^^ Looked up Sume. Really wish I had a copy of Sumut.
^ I need more Jeremy Barnes in my life. I always need more Jeremy Barnes in my life.

It's pretty good. Most of the songs are more one artist than the other, and I think TV on 10 is the only one where it's really a near-50/50 blend, but I liked it a lot regardless.
Absorbing Jaga Jazzist's Magazine EP. Odd stuff. It's from a few years before A Livingroom Hush, the album where JJ truly found themselves, but it's actually really good. The only other release from this period, Jaevla Jazzist Grete Stitz, was a few good songs buried in a massive pile of embarrassing crap. In contrast, Magazine offers an intriguing glimpse into an alternate universe where JJ got their act together and focused on a more acoustic, traditional jazz sound.
Of course, if they had focused on that sound, I probably never would have heard of them in the first place.
Comments
so El-P and Killer Mike have announced a collaborative mixtape under the name Run The Jewels.
Here's a clip of "Banana Clipper".
also here's a remix of Drones Over BKLYN called "Rush Over BKLYN" that I did not know existed.
the actual best thing

not what i would call vex'd's most defining moment.
also T Power shows up at least 4 times under d'nb, and most of the artists are from Hospital
i wonder how this thing was generated
also classical
>Dirty South Rap
>Rick Ross
so the Aesop Rock / Kimya Dawson collaboration Hokey Fright turned out to be surprisingly quite good (I don't really like Kimya Dawson).
That said, it's not really a rap album, so I'm sure some people are going to be disappointed and/or angry.
Distance's Hedmuk mix.
Needless to say getting it is a thing you should do.
also crossposting from the main thread
Nurse With Foetus
It's alright.
i get so angry sometimes i just punch plankton --Klinotaxis
Basically retro stoner metal but done damn right

I have never been able to get into Breakcore as a genre. Too many weird fuckings with the percussion for my taste.
That said, I think Four Tet is sometimes counted as breakcore and I have the album he did with Sunburned Hand of the Man, so that's a thing I guess.
I am kind of surprised that no one has commented on this yet.
It's the actual best thing, after all.

so in my iTunes Oneohtrix Point Never is listed as "Other" in the genre field.
I find this appropriate.

in the meantime http://futuresequence.bandcamp.com/album/sequence6 the latest SEQUENCE compilation is out!! if you fancy listening to several hours of cool ambient/experimental
