I highly recommend London Zoo. It is badass. Great production, solid vocal features, unusual style—an all-around great album. Just listen to it through when you get the chance.
Honestly, this new track strikes me as one of Martin's weaker outings, although I do still like it a good deal.
They seem pretty average to me, some peeps complaining about the producer, some complaining about the mc. (*shrug*) tbh if I was not OK w/ danny brown I would a been disappointed by this track as swell

in my experience most soundcloud comments are "yo sick tuune bro :skateboards off on a keg of booze:* which is annoying but not terribly intrusive. here I actually saw someone use the phrase "so commercial" and that just made me really sad.

uh, OK. Isn't Bug a dubstep producer though? Or am I thinking of someone else?

To the former... when you get two cult artists like that together, particularly those that inspire the kind of fanaticism that The Bug and Danny Brown do, you are going to get catty assholes complaining about things in a really trite way.
To the latter... sort of. Kevin Martin's work could be classified as dancehall, 2-step or dubstep depending upon the album and track in question, but he's decidedly more willing to experiment than most producers in those genres. Plus, like many early dubstep producers, he likes to use his instrumental work to support toasting, rapping and singing just as if not more often than he lets them stand alone—although his production is often sublime either way.
And in any case, even if dancehall overall is not your thing, his material is well worth checking out solely for how detailed and powerful his work is. It really isn't about genre.
I think this is the first Underachievers song I've liked. As well as the first I've heard that doesn't just sound like four other artists awkwardly stitched together.
Just listened to Zengineers' drum-n-bass remix of an Entertainment For The Braindead song. Was a well-arranged remix as far as I could tell and it sounded nice, but it felt viscerally wrong.
Maybe I'll like it better on the next listen.
Relistened to Sudio's Strange Attractors. It's even better than I remembered. The best house/techno crescendos are the ones without drum machine fills.
everybodys favourite avant goth doom prog psych black metal bedroom modern classical chamber music band Kayo Dot have released a track from their double album (!!!) which is coming out in the autumn, and im well pleased because it sounds like Dowsing-era KD given a good tremolo-picking going-over. and there's a big fancy choir part which is practically a requirement for KD these days. yes

I finally got around to digging through Deerhunter's discography lately. Although I like the majority of what I heard, I think that Microcastle is their crowning achievement. It's one of the few contemporary albums that really captures the true spirit of psych-rock to me.
also El-P and Killer Mike put out a video for 36" Chain which I am not going to link to because it's very violent, but it has Andrew WK (or someone who looks like him anyway) getting beat up in it, so that's a thing.
^^ I heard about that awhile ago. I think I'll listen to it soon.
In other news, I recently discovered former Coil members Ossian Brown and Stephen Thrower's project Cyclobe. As one might expect, there is a strong resemblance to mid-period Coil, particularly that group's more abstract instrumental work, but there is a distinctly different vibe to it all that I rather like.
I just acquired five of Joy Electric's early releases, meaning I now have almost his entire discography and how did I get almost his entire discography when did this happen
Anyway, it's weird listening to the super early stuff and hearing real drum loops from Ronnie. Or dub rhythms. Or d'n'b and stadium house remixes.
Other stuff:
Duke Ellington: New Orleans Suite. Have I mentioned how much I love Duke Ellington? Because he's the best.
Diablo Swing Orchestra: Sing Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious. Not as in-your-face as album #3, but initial impressions are favorable.
Temple Yard: Temple Yard. Reggae, a bit poppier than I was expecting, but good.
Soulfood 76: Original Soundtrack. More fuzz! I want more fuzz!
mewithoutYou: Catch for Us the Foxes. I was on the fence about these guys before, but this album made me a fan.
Comments
no.
I usually don't have a problem with soundcloud comments. These though are yikes.I highly recommend London Zoo. It is badass. Great production, solid vocal features, unusual style—an all-around great album. Just listen to it through when you get the chance.
"Dancehall" can mean a couple things.
like ragga or something?

well, alright
I'll give it a listen sometime then I suppose. Have you heard Run The Jewels yet in unrelated news?

At least the man knows how to describe himself.
not normally a Pusha T fan but I like this.
the beat's uh....weird?
