(While we're at it, Catherine's message is most definitely not "humans are bastards".)
The whole thing about "sheep" seemed to be attacking human egotism specifically. Also, wouldn't it line up with SMT's basically bleak outlook on humanity?
The whole idea of SMT is that humans are flawed, not irredeemably terrible. The games are perfectly happy to portray humanity overcoming those flaws to find their own path.
Whilst we're coming up with ridiculous interpretations of things, I would like to posit that the original Spyro trilogy is a metaphor for the war on drugs. In the first game, the dragons are stoned (an obvious metaphor for marijuana use) by Gnasty Gnorc (their dealer). The one dragon who isn't stoned, Spyro, wants to save his friends from a lifetime of drug use, so he decides to take on the Gnorcs (a drug cartel) single handedly.
In the third game, the Sorceress is clearly a stand in for a drug manufacturer, hurting other people just so they can make their drugs.

The Hyrule Field theme in Twilight Princess also has that exact same intro, and I've played a lot more of Twilight Princess than I have Ocarina of Time, yet I didn't realise the connection to the Sun Song until Bee pointed it out.
Man, and I thought Daedalic was mean-spirited with the Deponia series. It's been two hours and I've already killed off an entire convent of children. And a clown.
Playing Burnout Paradise because, eh, got it in the Origin Bundle and I'm actually that bored.
It's fulfilled my primary goal, which was to ramp off of stuff and smash cars, but the game's kind of...unpleasant in terms of theme? The narrator/announcer/radio DJ is this smug, popped-collar (well, he doesn't have an appearance, but he sounds like the kind of guy who'd wear that) jerk, the radio's music is generally angsty alt-rock or country rock (especially "Paradise City", which they play every time you start the game), and I get the feel that this game was marketed exclusively to rich, white fratboys.

:/
Paradise is one of my favorite games. Maybe it was because I got into it when I was 12 or so, but still, I can't help but feel attached to it. At one point I distinctly remember being obsessed with it the way I am now with Rayman...
If it's any consolation, Atomika decreases in frequency as you get further through the game (I don't hear him at all anymore, after having gotten my Elite License).
^^Well, part of the problem is that the soundtrack is still from when you were 12. I think I'd enjoy this a bit more if I bought it around the same time. It's just not my kind of thing anymore.
And for what it's worth, it's pretty well made for an open-world racing game. Even if it doesn't allow you to remap the controls
^ Do you want help? There was a time when I could beat the boss in one go. I can give you help.
You have to bounce that ice ball thing back at him, that's not hard to figure out, but after a while he just stops doing it and I don't know how else to hurt him.
The fire flower will summon dust clouds when it activates. They'll explode when hit with the flame, with flames going in the four arrow-key directions. You have to move the dust clouds with the broom, and place them in a way that the flower'll get hit.And I won't lie. Even when you know what to do, it's hard to figure out exactly where you have to have to place the dust. And you'll have to make sure that the fire doesn't hit the dust before you finish setting it up, or you'll have to try again next time.
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. that's so dumb.
I had a lot of the same problems with this game that I did with OFF!. Good story, great atmosphere, atrocious mechanics.
I am probably not going to revisit it.
I don't know, I eventually softened up on OFF! too, but seriously, were so many jumping puzzles really necessary? This game is not a platformer. And that last boss fight was just tedium incarnate.
Never had a large amount of problems with the platforming myself. But apparently, not having trouble with odd platforming mechanics is something with precedent (see Quantum Conundrum). I'd check it again to see if it was difficult, but I just deleted it to clear out some empty space.
You might want to screw around with the swap skill before you abandon the game. It's not every day that a game gives you a tool designed to break it.

I likely will only because I sincerely doubt anything else the game could throw at me will be as wretchedly annoying as that fight.

In the OOT Hyrule Field theme, when it starts off with that piccolo riff that sounds like birds at sunrise...
They're chirping the Sun's Song.
Oh, and here, while we're at it.
saaaaaay can anybody recommend some nice 3DS e-shop games that are at a reasonable-ish 10-15 dollar price point?

god this fight has some of the worst hit-detection I have ever seen in a video game. Either that or I actually don't know what you meant.
