One thing that bugs me is that the box border doesn't quite jibe with the main Discussions menu. It's just a matter of dinking with the CSS if people do like it, but I do know that it's a little hard to read comments on IJBM2 with all the borders flying around. That is one thing about the TVT CSS I do like.
Once you figure out how it works, though, it's soooooooo much better than fighting with tables, like you had to do back in the days of Netscape 4. I hated that so much. :P

I spent most of a college job throwing out HTML tables and putting in nice CSS in it's place.
For the websites at work, we eventually gave up trying to maintain hand-hacked, late-1990s-dialect HTML with almost no CSS, and switched to Drupal. It was that bad.
Hey now. :P (They are, but they don't suck nearly as much now as they did in the 1990s! I've never worked for them, though the company I do work for sold them a bunch of equipment back when they were focused on the AOL classic software instead of the portals they use now.)

I guess the effect the borders had was they made everything look more defined to me. Less like the post contents are just floating in space. I always disliked that aspect of Vanilla.

Looking at this style again, I do think I liked the borders better. Some of the minimalism was lost, but at the same time they did help make the posts look more defined. One of my complaints about IJBM's layout is that everything sorta seems to run together, there.

@AU: The avatar files themselves were 50x50, but they were displayed at 40x40. It was strange.

You know what you can do, AU? Download a copy of the CSS, plug it into your XAMPP copy of Vanilla, and tweak it until you find something you like. Then when you get something you like you can just ask Lee to install it for you!
As far as I know, there's no way to let users tweak how the forum appears to them beyond their own prefs. I'd have to see how that works to be able to do something like that.
