I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I remember having to reconcile nerds' fondness for Pacific Rim with people on Deadline (within Hollywood) dismissing it as a hunk-a-junk because it wasn't doing great business in America
Brownie points are like "oh that's nice" things that don't mean anything really
you know how a lot of people are acting like Home is gonna be a great movie just because it has a black girl in the leading role? the trailers haven't given me much confidence but then again trailers can be misleading...
and yeah, you know Tumblr would love The Proud Family if it were on now, despite Bruce W. Smith's lack of narrative taste
I don't know why more things that put blacks front and center can't be, you know, good

tbh there were some pretty damn racist articles about its popularity in e.g. China

Wait wait wait, since when is the Proud Family not a good show?

I hated it even as a kid. Every character is embittered and unpleasant. I got the feeling it was supposed to somehow be a joyous thing but it's not
i don't know, the show just seemed kind of directionlessly angry
it doesn't help watching it now that despite the solid design, the show's animation is godawful bargain basement shit
Walt Disney Television Animation was doing a lot of shows at one point that were plagued with shit animation (hell even Dave the Barbarian seems like it got a bit shortchanged budget-wise)

The words that just came out of your mouth, I don't understand
Maybe I should watch a full episode of the show again sometime. I haven't seen one in probably ten years, and I tried a few months ago to watch one but decided it wasn't for me...
You know it's okay to like problematic things, and that was something I realized on tumblr, but for some people it's not enough, for some, learning that the thing they like often induces denial from the person.
but people sometimes use 'brownie promise' idiomatically (or 'scout's honour'), i assumed it was like that
this page reminds me, i've been meaning to see the proud family sometime, i know you think it was junk Anonus, but i'm curious because i liked The Weekenders and Pepper Ann which are the kinds of shows i see it mentioned alongside, only unlike those TPF never aired on GMTV as far as i remember, unless it came after i stopped watching.

The Proud Family was the first animated series produced exclusively for the Disney Channel, though over here it also aired in reruns on ABC's Saturday morning schedule; it may have been withheld from GMTV in the UK though.
I'm pretty sure the general consensus on Korra was, for quite some time, that the first season is bad and the rest are good to great.
Why are we going on this circlejerk again? I thought the praise heaped upon Pacific Rim was silly too, but I question whether or not this discussion is actually worth having if all we're going to do is flog a dead horse.
first on the agenda is we are never making a sequel to anything ever again
second is no celebrities will be hired, none whatsoever
third is any employee caught so much as whispering a fart joke within 30 miles of the studios will be fired on the spot, as will any employee who uses the words 'irreverent', 'quirky' or 'toyetic' within my hearing

there are multiple possible etymologies
i guess i always assumed it was to do with the Brownies because that made more sense than chocolate points.
